Water Mill Products, Inc.
There are so many hoof care products on the market
that deciding which ones are right for your horse can be confusing. Every
product claims to be "THE one," yet you must make a decision. I'm Dave
Birdsall, an AFA Certified Journeyman Farrier. I'm asking you to base your
decision on the fact that I've been shoeing horses for over 30 years, and have
used my decades of experience to formulate three hoof care products that don't
make fancy claims. They really work. I wouldn't put my name on a product unless
I'm absolutely sure you'll be satisfied with the results. The products I'm
offering have been extensively tested and reformulated over a period of years,
until they performed perfectly. Now I'm ready to share them with
you.
Consistency is the key to healthy hooves. Too much
moisture can certainly destroy good hooves, and not enough moisture can
increase the shock and stinging to the horse's feet.
When we speak of consistency, we have to explain
what happens when a horse is exposed to too much moisture. If the horse is
turned out all night, the hoof goes from being dry to being very wet from the
dew. Dew is hazardous to the healthy hoof. On the other hand, when a horse is
in a stall on shavings or turned out on dry ground, these conditions are
hydrophilic surfaces which draw moisture from the feet.
Through our testing, we believe the perfect
moisture content of the hoof should be approximately 26%. To maintain this
consistency close to this percentage, we advise using
Birdsall's HOOF CREME and Birdsall's
SHOW HOOF OIL.
Birdsall's Hoof Creme
will give your horse a healthy supple hoof. It contains essential oil and
protein, together with vitamins A, D, and E added, that help build keratin,
enhance hoof growth, and nourish the corium (at the top of the
hoof).
Birdsall's Hoof Creme is
a non-toxic, water-based product that maintains the proper moisture balance of
the hoof when used as directed. It's beneficial to the coronary band, hair and
hide, and is also great for human skin and nails. Petroleum, silicone and
acrylic free, it will not clog the water line. It contains a thin oil as well
as antifungal and antibacterial agents that are non-toxic.
It works for horses:
- On shavings
- Turned out
- During mud season
- Plagued with hard dry feet
It helps:
- Maintain optimal circulation
- Relieve coronary band instability
- Make trimming and shoeing easier
- Relieve hoof-bound horses
- Increase hoof strength and
stability
- Prevent rapid expansion and contraction of the
hoof wall
It's easily applied:
- Brush liberally on a clean hoof with a 2 inch
brush
- Cover top of the hoof and occasionally paint
the entire hoof
- Allow solution to soak in
- For best results, wipe off excess from hoof
wall after 3 to 5 minutes
Recommended application:
- Use before placing horse in stall
- In dry climates - daily
- In humid climates - daily for the first four
days, then three or four times weekly
- For horses on shavings - daily for the first
four days, then three or four times weekly
- For horses on straw - daily
- For muddy feet - wipe off mud and
apply
Birdsall's Show Hoof Oil
is an odorless, clear oil product designed to improve the appearance of your
horse's hooves, and strengthen the entire hoof capsule without drying the
hooves.
- May be used at any time, but especially before
bathing.
- Before turnout (day or night)
- Protects from too much moisture
- Keeps moisture balance and creates a strong
hoof
- Protects horses hooves from the harmful effects
of ordinary soaps, shampoos and detergents
We think this is the hoof
product ever developed!
"In the world of show horse shoeing we
all have tricks of the trade, and your Hoof Creme and Show Hoof Oil are my
choice to defend the hoof from the many extreme climate and environmental
conditions that cause the breakdown of a healthy hoof." - S. Brian
Meserlain, P.A., Wellington, Florida
"My horses and I - we think your products
are the best on the market. We cannot live without them. I've been using them
now for approximately four years, and we would not change to any other
product." - Janne Rumbaugh, horse owner, Palm Beach,
Florida
We're pleased to announce our newest
product, Birdsall's Farrier Barrier. This new, unique product
fights White Line Disease, Thrush, Canker and bacterial infections of the hoof.
It also helps eliminate soreness of tender feet. Farrier
Barrier protects the horse's feet against the harmful effects of
moisture from morning dew and bathing. It improves cracked feet without drying
them out, and will make the hoof tougher.
