Invites you to get to know our
co-Resident Veterinarians, Dr. Jonathan Cohen,
D.V.M. and Dr. M.W. (Tookie) Myers, D.V.M.
The Farrier & Hoofcare Resource Center is
pleased that Drs. Jonathan Cohen and M.W. Myers have accepted the position of
Co-Resident Veterinarians. You may be asking why a site devoted exclusively to
farriery and hoofcare needs Resident Veterinarians. There are several very good
reasons.
If you visit the Bulletin Boards on a regular
basis, you've no doubt noticed that many of the questions regarding farriery
and hoofcare seem to need a vets' input for advice or resolution. The very
nature of the practice of farriery is such that it cannot be practiced in a
vacuum. A cooperative, mutally respectful relationship between farriers and
veterinarians is an absolute imperative if the long-term hoof care of horse's
hooves is to be successful.
Both Jon and Tookie bring a unique blend of talents
and experience to The Resource Center. Tookie has decades of experience in all
facets of the equine industry, including breeding, training, and showing, and
Jon has the rare insight developed from being both a farrier and a
vet.
Our primary goal at the Farrier & Hoofcare
Resource Center is to diseminate farrier and hoofcare-related information. And
a large part of the Resident Veterinarian's duties will focus on optimally
organizing and utilizing the Center's resources. The Resident Veterinarian's
duties include becoming thoroughly familiar with and versed in all aspects and
sections of The Farrier & Hoofcare Resource Center: bulletin boards,
articles, products and services, even the classified ads. Once familiarized,
the Resident Veterinarians help answer people's questions, advise them as to
the best places to find information, develop concepts for revising sections of
the site or creating new sections. Additionally, the Resident Veterinarians are
involved in publicizing the site, contributing content, and participating in
planned outreach programs such as
The
Farrier & Hoofcare Resource Center On The Road.
We are both proud and grateful that Jon and Tookie
have accepted the Co-Resident Veterinarian's position, and joined Henry
Heymering, Danvers Child and myself as part of the Farrier & Hoofcare
Resource Center Team.
We encourage you to get to know our Resident
Veterinarians by visiting their personal Web Sites in the
Personal
Web Site section of The Resource Center.
