My 7 yr old mare foundered on spring grass and is healing well with proper shoeing and a little bute. The founder was not as sever as some posted in this web site, but painful none the less. Now that she is ridable again, I would like to go on trail rides but fear the scar tissue on the tip of the coffin bone will cause her to be too lame to travel over rocks. Will the Equi-Pak stay on over rough ground, muddy streams, and rain? If I use the Trail Kit, instead of asking my farrier put on pads, how long do I leave it on after the ride is over? Can I remove it myself or will the farrier have to scrape it off?
