Hi Cliff, Yes, we've found that the Equi-Pak wwill stay in place for 6 weeks w/out a pad. To ensure this you must scrub out the sole and frog with denatured alcohol and dry with a hair dryer or heat gun, then apply Equi-Pak. After the 25 sec. set time the material will be tacky, so rub some dirt or shavings on top of the material before you set the foot down. Most farriers will seat the shoe out a little also. If you are really going into difficult terrain, you might consider using some plastic gutter guard nailed on with the shoe as extra insurance.
