: I have a 10 year old barrel horse gelding (breeding stock paint) that came up completely lame with heat in feet and swealing in lower front legs. This came after he was learning to bull dog on black ground. My vet said that he was a scale 3-4 (10 the worst) with navicular and had (excuse my spelling) pedeal oestitis. He had lots of inflamation in the feet which later errupted out his ankles like little volcanos. My vet HIGHLY recommended Natural Balance and I found a shoer (Ron Atchison in kaufman texas) who had experience that I could verify with the shoes. He has been shoeing my horse completely sound since October of 1999. This horse has no wall and very flat feet so Ron uses thin nails, pads, and an orthodontic gel substance under the pad for cushion. Even tho I could now most likely go back to a regular shoe I will never take that chance. Ron and Natural Balance shoes are the BEST.
