: I am stocking my truck with all my shoeing supplies. What would you suggest in stocking different sizes and types of shoes. How much of what, basically?

Dear Mark,

What you stock will depend on what types of horses you are going to be shoeing. If you are going to shoe race horses, I would suggest low toe fronts with regular plain hinds, Queens Plates, or Queens Plates with XT toes. Mainly in sizes 5 & 6's some 4's and a few 3 & 7. If you are shoeing show horses, again you can use the Queens Plates, Natural Balance Shoes, Lite Champions, or Grand Champions. Barrel Racers use the Sidewinders, Hunters use the Lite Champions. But you can use many styles of our Racing and Competition shoes on almost any horse. As a farrier, in time you will learn what works the best on a particular horse. (and in time that shoe will probably change to something else, either by you, the vet, the owner or nature.)
