: Dear Mr. Kinney:

: I have never used or even seen the Supracor pads and am thinking about switching to them. I have an Arabian endurance horse (gelding).

: My question is this:

: On the underside (versus the hoof side) of the pads, is the surface textured for traction, or is it smooth, like with leather pads.

: Presently, we are using Shock Tamer Pads. The underside surface of the Shock Tamer Pads is not totally smooth, but it does not appear to offer a traction surface either. I am certain you are familiar with them. The ST's have little pop-out modules in the pad. We don't pop them out though.

: Thanks,

Dear Susie,

The Supracor HoneyComb Pads actually look like a real honeycomb. Each cell is a capsule of air that cushions shock and impact. They are not smooth to the touch.

In a test at a leading western university, the HoneyComb Pad cushioned the controlled impact load by 40 times over a leading pad, (one you are familiar with). We have a copy of that test if you would like us to send you one.

The HoneyComb Pad has been used by many endurance riders, including those who have competed and won international endurance events. The pad was photographed after finishing a severe desert endurance race in the UAE over rocks, sand and gravel, - there was not a scratch on the pad.
Supracor's HoneyComb Pad can be reused a second time in most cases, which divides up the initial cost per pair.
Good Luck in your endurance competition.
