Baron's Notebook The events of September 11 seem to put everything into a new perspective. How is it that we get so caught up in the hub-bub of everyday life that we loose sight of the important stuff. If you read my Notebook previously, you know that I almost died two years ago, and I made the commitment to try to take it easy and enjoy life more. To appreciate those around me. I have to honestly admit that I didn't stick to my promise. It's amazing how easy it is to slip back into old habits. It's so easy to rationalize that "I'll do it just this once, then I'll cut back again next week," and then next week comes and goes, and nothing changes. Soon it blurs. A tunnel vision sets in. Then 6,000 lives are snuffed out. Our innocence is stripped away. Friends (or friends of friends) die. Another chance at introspection, at determining what's important and what's not important. Will we stick to our new resolutions this time? Or will we slip back into the old ways as time fades the impact and shock? "Don't sweat the small stuff." In proper perspective, it's all small stuff.
