I wouldn't say it's stagnant, after all your right, it's a bone and bone is living and changing all the time. But I'd like you to show me where the mudulary cavity is in a coffin bone. I haven't seen one yet in any pictures or disections. If you know something the rest of us don't please share your great knowledge.
There seems to be a misconception on Mr Burtons part .Confusing you in to thinking that only those bones containing a mudullary cavity are living bone tissue capable of producing & destroying bone substance continually.
If that was the case, then the whole skeleton structure would be in total & utter chaos.
I don't recall making any mention of or reference to the pedal bone containing a medullary cavity.

Are you suggesting the coffin bone is of stagnate lifeless nature.
I am suggesting nothing of the sort. I am stating as a demonstrable fact the the coffin bone does not have a medulla(bone marrow). If you have evidence to the contrary, I suggest you present it. Otherwise, perhaps you should join your family, in seclusion.

By the way, next time you see Jack and his alters, please tell him/them I said "Hi". Thanks.

Really? The only misconception/misunderstanding/inability to read for content in context with comprehension, appears to be on your part. LOL!!
Confusing you in to thinking that only those bones containing a mudullary cavity are living bone tissue capable of producing & destroying bone substance continually.
Please show where I ever said such a thing.

Please explain how any given bone, in and of itself, is able to destroy itself, let alone, as you assert, continually.
ROTFLMFAO!!!! You couldn't be more incorrect if you were Jack-Mac incarnate.
I don't recall making any mention of or reference to the pedal bone containing a medullary cavity.
Your mention was with regards to bones in general. Last I knew, the coffin bone was a bone.......
Bone tissue : Each bone has two kinds of tissue, a hard outside layer of compact bone & a soft spongy inside layer of cancellous bone.the outside of each bone is covered with a fibrous layer called the periosteum.
APPARENTLY you are also not aware that the coffin bone has no periosteum per se?

By the way, it was indeed you who first brought the subject of bone marrow into the discussion.

Perhaps you should demand a refund from wherever it was that you received your training in [equine]anatomy and the like......

APPARENTLY you are also not aware that the coffin bone has no periosteum per se?The only per se is your childish behavior as a moderator.
Periosteum called corium in relationship to the coffin bone or is it the pedal bone maybe its the P3

Fools and others who repeatedly demonstrate willful ignorance and s-tupidity occasionally bring out my inner child.

Do you even know what, in context, 'per se' means? How about 'inflicted' or afflicted'?
Periosteum called corium in relationship to the coffin bone or is it the pedal bone maybe its the P3
You did note my use of 'per se' with regard to the os ped and its 'periosteum', right?

I can live with my embarrassment, the question is, in light of your continuing willful ignorance and ongoing display of a dearth of knowledge or a willingness to learn, how can you live with yours?

What Annette really needs is more experience shoeing horses. Having carefully read all "her" posts since "she" admitted to only shoeing "her" horses and those of a few friends, to determine if the information shared was worth the "dispensation" of being allowed to post in the FHF forums, I've come to the conclusion that there's "no there, there."

Annette, please refrain from posting in the FHF forums from this point on.

all bones have medullar cavities:rolleyes:
Medullary cavity

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Jump to: navigation, search
The medullary cavity (medulla, innermost part) is the central cavity of bone shafts where red bone marrow and/or yellow bone marrow (adipose tissue) is stored; hence, the medullary cavity is also known as the marrow cavity. Located in the main shaft (cortical bone) of a long bone (diaphysis) (consisting mostly of compact bone), the medullary cavity has walls composed of spongy bone (cancellous bone) and is lined with a thin, vascular membrane (endosteum). However, the medullary cavity is the area inside any bone (long, flat, etc.) that holds the bone marrow.[1] The clavicle is the only long bone that does not contain a medullary cavity.
This area is involved in the formation of red blood cells and white blood cells.
Intramedullary is a medical term meaning the inside of a bone. Examples include intramedullary rods used to treat bone fractures in orthopedic surgery and intramedullary tumors occurring in some forms of cancer or benign tumors such as an enchondroma.
