Is dissapointing to hear. Bellotta also used to be one of the better ones.

TO John of wood miller,

I just bought a box of your rasps (6). sorry but was really disappointed with them. it was duller than the used heller I took out. I go through a heller in 2 to 3 days, the wood miller was through after 4 horses!! maybe I got a bad batch?? no vested interests here, just unsatisfied with all the rasps out there right now

Wow.... can't believe that for a minute..... I am on my second load of Ultra Sharps, (have used 30+ of them now), and I haven't had a one that was not as sharp or sharper out of the box than anything I have previously used. ( Heller's, Save Edge, etc). And last???? I am getting at least 1 and a half times the horses out of them than I was with the good 'ol USA made Hellers... In fact, they are so sharp, that my apprentice won't use them 'till I get 3 dozen of so horses on one! It's pretty funny.

And to the post above about the fine side being dull? I have found the fine side to be so aggresively sharp that on most of my nippered feet it only takes a couple of passes with that side to finish the job, seldom have to use the coarse side at all on them. (Maybe THAT'S why they are lasting so long????lol). If you really found a bad batch , I would tell John right away.

.... my apprentice dropped one, the mare stepped on it and it snapped by the handle... John immediately offered to replace it.

Bruce, unless you are doing 2 dozen horses a day, perhaps you might want to look at how clean your feet are before you put your rasp to 'em???? I am routinely getting 60+ horses out of the Ultra Sharps before they go to the finish handle. Dave

I'm waiting delivery of a case of the new Outlaw rasp by Diamond. At the Summitt, Danny Ward told me that these are good ones . I expect delivery this week and will be sure to try one and let you folks know how it worked for me. I feel that this will be a great addition to the rasp market at this time and hope that they work out. My invoice says that they are manufactured in Brazil, the same country that Wood Millers come from, I'm hoping for better results than the past.

They are priced right.

Are your nippers dull? Why the need for so much rasping? ;)

I've kept using the Hellers and the only problem I've noticed is that I had a few that clogged really bad. When I took a good look at them, I saw that the teeth were actually bent over some at the tips. That was only a couple of rasps though and the rest have been ok.

Yesterday (Tuesday)I tried the Outlaw by Diamond, I sent the one that I used on 5 hooves to Danny Ward for his evaluation and will continue this after I hear from him.

I was not impressed with the Outlaw but also realize that I may be just a spoiled whatever. (you fill in the blanks) More later.

If there wasn't already enough reason to boycott the Simonds/Heller rasps by parent company Mustad throwing Americans out of work, check this out-

No American money or trade deals for murderers guys.

Hmmm, seems like the take home message is, if you want to work in Columbia, don't join a union.......

I've stayed with the Heller but I get good ones and bad ones so I wouldn't say that I'm happy with them.

Someone gave me a Balota to try and I actually got along pretty well with it.

It's time to start trying different rasps again.

Anybody tryed silver bullet from portugal ,,,,found them not too bad ,but twisted a bit when look at them close ....also the hoof plan,(huf hoble)from "pferd "looks like a aluminium plane great for cold shoeing as it gives a level surface ,but no good for the m-L ,dorsal wall as it rips and has no freedom in the way you rasp

hope this makes sence if not i will find links .
