Crazy K,
Do you like your heel nails at exactly the bridge of the foot? I have mine placed about a nail head thickness in front of it. Thanks for the kudos', but I am really wondering what else you see! I have peaked in my work and need some masterful eyes to see my shortcomings and kick me up to the next stage. Any thoughts on hoof prep? Tell me what could be better. Same with shoe fit, shoe lenght, etc.
Thanks,
Jason
Smitty,
That is a really nice heel. If you can, give me a short rundown on how you forged it.
Thanks,
Jason
jason i am english farrier the style and the things we do differ
there are many styles of shoeing adoped by farriers all over the world they all have a place for a horse some where the trick is to know when and were so what i say might not fit with every body take it in store it and use it if you will box the toe till fuller is closed on the same theam box the inside heel from the last nail hole which should be just half way back the last nail on outside should be just past half way hind shoes are left and right handed your heel is good for the outside but the inside heel should bebox offwith more slope as shoe is fitted tight to foot to prevent any cutting of other leg as the shoe wears it will get a bur on the egde ence the boxing horses of any breed that move fast will cut other legs THATS A NO NO in any shoeing now dont bet **** out of the iron stroke it be jentl your stamp is bulging the steel and learn to be gentle hot iron works best be cool take yor time one of your calf ropers yes you carnt be perfect less you practice perfect that will do to start with
