I saw an article on these in the Farrier's Journal. Has anyone tried them? How do you like them?

Haven't tried them. Was hoping the NBS guys would send me a few to try, but no soap

Don't be afraid to use them! I especially like the straight inside edges. Allows a nice free flow or dirt.

The nailhole pattern could be a little coarser I guess, and I never use 8 nails on a slider anymore. And I hate to skip one on a slider. Don't particularly like the hole in the ground surface.

TS or TK Sliders.

If you are referring to the TK slides that are made by NB, they are GREAT!

They are shaped nicely and fit feet well. The inside is designed so that they clean our easier than most any other on the market. ( notice how they are straight on the inside?) The Natural Balance website has an accompanying article that describes the design of the shoe.

Ron, as far as the eight nail holes, well... I have had no problem with them. If I chose not to use the last nail hole, I plug it with a nail and pein the end of it over flush. Then yo have no nail hole. I have had no issues in years doing this.

The nail holes are designed to fit those feet of reiners that are thinned walled and small footed. The nail holes are placed in a manner that allows for good nailing without the farrier getting frustrated about the wall thinckness.

Tony do you have any pics of these shoes on and off the horse
it would be nice to see different shoes for different breeds

we dont have that big range of breeds to shoe
may be we can start a thread with all the breeds

It might take me awhile to do this. I did all the reiners that I hae theses shoes on a while back and they are not due for 3-4 more weeks. When I do them or if I get near where they are I will get a picture of them for you to see.

The Tk Sliders will work on any breed. I use them on reiners, but I also know of some rope horses that wear them.

Theres pictures of them in the NB website in the products section, look in the performance products area. There's another new one too that they dont show there yet, Cant remember what they are calling it.
It is a little narower and a little more round and shorter heels, and makes a nice all around plain stamp hind shoe even if you're not doing reiners.

How much do you pay for them? Do they come in a left and right pattern? What nails do you use for them? Can you get them with no holes? From what little I have read, they make sense. One thing in the article, it was stated they never turn the shoe since balancing the hoof, applying the shoe straight the horse will not spread so much. I am wondering what do you do for horses who are narrow-based toed out conformation?

Take it from me -it's free- you do not need a left or a right pattern on a slider. If there is any need for that in a horseshoe at all by the way.

No left and rights.

I use a 3 or 4 race nail - depending. These fit right and fit tight without changing anything. Very little to rasp off when finishing the ground side of the shoe.

I do not recall off the top pf my head what I pay for them. I buy them by the box. 10 PR. a box I believe. It has been awhile since I ordered. I buy these in the spring and then only what I might need through the year. I will hunt up the price for you.

About the type pf horse that you asked about, I would try these sliders frist without modifying them. I have had success doing this. Then if I need to I will turn up one trailer of the shoe alittle. I have only done this on one horse.

When yo apply these showes, rememeber to bevel the edhes of the shoe alittle as they are a machine shoe.
