1. It's pretty.
2. It's expensive.
3. It does not come with a mechanism for firmly attaching an anvil. Thus you have to come up with your own way to affix your anvil to the Powerblock.
4. The wood is pine. Pine is a sound energy (vibration) transmitter, not a sound energy absorber. Ash, maple, birch, and a few other hardwoods are much better sound energy absorbers.
5. In order for the wood block to absorb vibration and sound energy, thus making for better hammer return and a much quieter anvil, the anvil must be firmly attached to the stand.
6. I have never seen anyone useing the Powerblock who had their anvil bolted down or affixed to it in any way. Thus if they did not have a Deta Future Anvil, the ringing was the loudest I've heard - ringing amplified by the pine rather than absorbed by it.
7. IMHO, Delta should either supply a device for holding down the anvil or supply ear plugs.
