JUST THINKING IF THERE WAS A GALLERY FOR A SHOE BOARD ON THE FORUM
IF EVERYONE SUMMITED A SHOE FROM EACH STATE/COUNTRY AND ADD AS YOU GO

FROM A RACING PLATE, SLIDER, SHIRE ECT

THE SHOES WOULD NOT HAVE TO BE WORLD BEATERS
A HALL OF SHOES FOR THE FORUM
JUST A THOUGHT

John, fun idea, I've set it up. If you or anyone goes to the social area (community link then my horseshoes...), then go to groups tab, all groups, select the "Everyone" group, join it, then you can upload photos to the existing album "shoes around the world". So everyone can use the same album. Thanks for the idea.

Here,at Spain, the traditional shoes are in this way. This shoe, named "Vizcaina" was common in the fields, coal mines and the forest.

Fortunately, today, the Spanish horseshoers learn this forum and they practice the English farriery.

If I owned this forum, I would share this comment in a place of honor on the home page.

Maybe a shoe you make and fit them for a living
some shoe you use in your every-day work

does not have to be a world beater

OK I make a set once in a blue moon. This is one from a set I made for a 16hh T,bred dressage horse, toe to be rockered at the horse. Had to bang them out quickly, but then cancelled at the last moment (long story).

Made on an NC Short Sugar (Just rolling out the excuses here  )

I want to start doing a lot more. Will be moving to a new area soon where I can get paid for the effort so have to start brushing up.

Yep Seth.

I'm currently on the east coast of the North Island. It's nice, but it's regional and we find it quite isolated. Having lived mostly in or near major cities, it's doing our heads in a bit. Will be heading to Auckland (NZ's largest city at 1.5mil).

Hawkes Bay (where we are now) is a nice place, but we really need to be somewhere where you can buy a cup of coffee after 4pm.

Perhaps the sound you hear is 'opportunity knocking". Why not open a coffee shop that stays open later in the day? Set up a shoeing shop next door so that not only can you practice forging handmade shoes and the like, but when folks bring their horses in to be trimmed/shod, they can go next door and relax with a good cup of coffee. a magazine, and perhaps a sandwich or the like. It would keep them occupied and add a revenue stream..... :)

I once visited a Mennonite supply store with a shoeing shop attached and rental bicycles. The Old Order Mennonites would bring their buggies in, leave the horses for shoeing and rent (may have been loaners, I didn't ask) a bike to do their errands while the proprietor could tend the shop as well as shoe. Good deal all around.

The best things about the good old days -- I wasn't good and I wasn't old.

The older I get, the more horses I shoe, the fewer things that I can absolutely, positively fix.

It would be a great idea Rick... if there were any locals around at that time.

It gets pretty quiet after 4 here.

Actually there is a Starbux on the beachfront that stays open til 6pm, but I have a hard time categorizing what they serve as "coffee". :silly:
