Added toe crease to Kirk Standards, and SX7, for barrel horses, and Ground a role 180 Degrees like a kirk triumph.

I like this mod, for the practice with the creaser, better heal, and I don't like a creased heal for barrel horses, front or hind.

Why not? BTW, I seriously want to know, not start a pie fight like folks seem to enjoy doing here whenever someone states their opinion.

I don't like to tie the heals to the ground, on ropers, cutters, or barrel horses. I just got it in my head, I don't think anyone is necessarily wrong for doing it. I have had some horses with chronic mild coffin joint pain, freeing up the heals seemed to help so...... if freeing helped, freeing could also prevent, Like I said, I don't necessarily think I am totally right, it is just my way. They never seem to miss the traction, so it is not hurting anything.

That being said, I use rims, on polo and studs on jumpers, and rims on horses that will be ridden in lots of grass. So it's not a hard fast thing for me, just when I think it will benefit the long term soundness of the horse, but not pose a danger due to lose of traction.

I sure agree 100% with studs and caulks, but with cutters, ropers , reiners and canchasers I really feel that little rim isnt going to hurt?? Watch some slow motion film of their feet and you will see. Mostly because of the soft ground those horses work in, compared to turf .

Seems to me that barrel horses in particular, use the entire shoe, with the angle they're digging from, and can use all the traction they can get. How many have you seen going down as they go around a barrel?

I'm not fully convinced that the rim shoe gives a whole lot more traction. I think the section of the shoe (or a shoe) may provide more traction to the horse, especially in looser footing. By the section, I mean the thickness of the shoe.

Like I said, may be nothing to be concerned about. I shoe several 1D horses and none of mine have ever gone down. And none of my girls ever feel like they need more traction, so I'll keep doing it. Not creasing heals that is.:D

Eventers give alittle more mass than a regular rim...

Horses dont fall because of their front ends, they will go down when the ground will not support them in the hind end.. I see alot fall on bad ground no shoeing will prevent...

What about those mods? I expected to see a lot more!

Well, just to get you started in addition to earlier pics (I'm not a shoer that only use one style of shoeing :D)

Aluminum bar with a welded support/anti pull plate......
And a easy one, a reverse shoe with a polyethylene plate providing "caudal floating".....

That's the way I see it Gary, I like the Eventer, plenty of section, no crease through the Heal, I could be wrong, but I think they are punched a little finer than a kirk, I also like Kirk's Triumph and Triumph light, I like the out of the box shape better than the Eventer, but that is a preferance thing. The main reason I am using Kirk standards, SX7 or 8, is that is what I keep on the truck, and like modifying shoes. Any excuse! and I am slappin in a mod. :D:D:D

They need traction on the front to dig their way around the barrel.
