No joke Tx, that is something. Looks great.

Whip, would have gone with Emerson, but they wouldnt return emails to answer questions.

I saw the Heartland Stand in person and it's nothing to mess around with either. Looks like the rolls royce of stands and for the price, it should be. It will definitely be the stand to upgrade to in a while. I haven't seen a better design. Maybe in the future, they will build it with an attachable table-space.

I settled on the Cliff Carrol Anvil Stump today from my local shop for $250. The sales rep swears the Delta Power Block is superior, and he justified the $350 price tag by saying the wood block is replaceable. It sounded like a nice idea to me, but after many calls and online searches, I can't even find that replacement block anywhere.

IMO, the two stands are pretty close in build and I do recall that earlier in the thread, some were stating that the Carroll Stand is made of a better quality and better treated wood.

Cool peter! Hope it works well for you.

The heartland stand seems great but unfortunately is priced out of touch with reality. I wont be buying one. I will how ever build a similar stand! :)

I'd like to know where to get one of those World Championship Blacksmith (WCB) stands. I've search the Internet high and low to try and find out who makes them, but to no avail. Anyone have any ideas?

You can buy them directly from the WCB. I got mine from Craig when he was at the Chattanooga Convention in 2009. Contact them through their website and they could hook you up. I think mine was 300 or 350 or something like that.

i made this last night.....the biggest thing for me was for the anvil to securly attach to the stand but to also be able to detach it easaly to put it into the truck. the latch system was a mistake that turned out to be amazing.... really works well, and is easy to connect and disconnect. but the most important item in my opinion is the little peice of rubber between the anvil and the stand. i could really feel the differance..

hey michael,
what keeps the latches from sliding off when beating steel around? is there a groove or something that i didnt notice? or are they much tighter than they appear? thanks! good luck

Hey Mike,
Good job outa you.
The thick plate is the best part. It will make a small anvil work like a bigger one.

i used this thing in dirt yesterday.. felt great.. MR Adams i think your right the thick plate helps to add some much needed weight. what a differance from the tailgate of the truck!!!!
JR..... nothing moves that ive noticed... the spring just keeps things snug... (1) i place the anvil on the stand....(2) i lift the latching steel and swivel the steel onto the anvil...(3) then i just "tap" on the head of the bolt and that really tightens things up..

then to detach i tap the side of the steel latch until the steel falls off the anvil..."keep in mind that im unable to move anything with just my fingers once everything has been snuged up".

i hope this helps.

Been wanting to try an anvil stump for a while so, I put this together last night. I made the table with 2 x 8s that I glued with liquid nail then drilled and put bolts through also. The legs are 20 inches 1 inch diameter black iron pipe with end caps from Lowe's and they are set about 5 inches into the table top.

I think I'm going to make a bigger table top for it to see if that makes any difference. Right now it's 10 x 12 which is just big enough for the anvil to sit on. I'm going to make some corner brackets this weekend to keep the anvil from moving around. It's about 24 inches tall with about 16 inches between the legs at ground level.

Seems to work pretty well and it only cost me $20 bucks worth of black iron pipe and end caps. The end caps give me about 1 inch of adjustment on the length of each leg.
