Just wanted to revive the thread. I am looking for a new anvil stand that wont break the bank, but is relatively strudy, and possibly collapsable. I have a small fold-up NC anvil tray and blaaaaaaah.

I am considering...
- larger NC collapsable stand with vice grip tray (looks kinda thin)
- the delta power block with adjustable legs (heard it doesnt absorb vibration)
-cliff carroll anvil stump (not sure if it's adjustible, carroll says you dont have to bolt your anvil to it, it will sit on the anvil lugs...?)
- stonewell stand (not sure if it's adjustable).

Any suggestions? I was hoping to cap it at $200-250 unless the power block is a great one. Gotta order it online and pay shipping unless I buy through Centaur.

Just looked it up, looks sweet. Price is so right, looks similiar in concept to the heartland stands. I see a tiny pic on the emerson site. Did you bolt your anvil on it or no need?

I bought an emerson tripod stand a few weeks ago. the one they make for the 150 and 200 lbers. I wanted to put my 120lb anvilbrand on it and hoped to add some beef to the little anvil in the shop. More importantly I wanted something that wouldn't get in the way under the horn when making draft shoes like my cliff carrol anvil stump does. the stand is heavy, 70 lbs or more so it did add mass to the anvil. but it's not very stable in the sense that it wiggles alot.

I put my 165lb american on it and the heavier anvil made it more stable (duh). I think I'll put another bolt in each leg since there's only one in each and that will tighten it up alot. I think it's too heavy to use on the road so I'll stick to the anvil stump until I swing for heartland forge or make my own.

Google the SWAN Anvil stand. That thing is TOPS! A guy up in VT has one and its a pretty coolstand.. Its similar to the heartland, its just lighter and uses a pneumatic strut instead of giant spring to clamp the anvil down.

You could build one like this for way under your budget even if you had to hire the welding. I think I made this one out of one 20' joint of 2" tubing and you can be sure that will fit your indivual specfications.

Pardon the rust it just seems to accumulate the less I do.

Yeah, but be patient, I messed up how I download pictures this afternoon
Its a JHM 125#, not real thick in the waist but not as skinny as it looks in the pictures.

looks like a hefty stand dutch. i built a stand for that $10 anvil from scrap 2x4's rusty 3in decking screws and rusty 3x1/4in lag's i had laying under the deck. the top is 8in thick laminated screwed and glued 2x's. it will service that 70'lber fine.

Its not the best stand but its the second one like this I have built. This one was narrow to fit in the slot I had left in the back of my rig when I was ready to shut the doors, and it tips back and fourth when you use the foot vise unless you put your free hand on the anvil. It could be , I'd say 4" wider with no problem and would be more stable.
The wood base the anvil sets in really makes it stable and deadens a little noise and the horn of the anvil is clear of the stand.
I dont think I have $30 worth of tubing and MIG wire in the whole thing, the feet are big washers.
