TOPIC: Pricing for vettec

Pricing for vettec 29 Dec 2008 11:23 #1

Just curious on pricing for pour in pads mainly Equi-build & Equi-pak. Toe & heel extensions w/ superfast?
The Nolan Hoof Plate, Mike Nolan told me at one of his clinics that he wanted us to charge $125/ foot w/ shoe and I forgot how much without the shoe. My clients won't pay that $ ?

I charge my customers the price of the tube plus a small fee for instillation work. If I open a tube the customer buys the whole tube even if I only use 1/4 of the tube.

If you do a search on this subject you will find some treads where this has already been discussed previously.

Personally, I charge for what fraction of the material that I use. If I use a quarter of the tube, I charge them obviously 25% of the tubes retail value. I use my ruler and measure the volume of my starting volume for reference, then measure how much I used, and charge per quarter inch or so. I round up towards my favor.....;)

On top of the amount of material that I use (Vettec) I charge usually a flat fee of $10 per pair (2 feet) for alcohol/acetone prep (if needed), heating with heat gun, tips, play-doh, etc. Sometimes if I have a small amount left over in a tube that is getting dangerously old, and I can use it before it goes bad, I usually won't charge if it is a small amount. I still charge the prep fees listed above, and it all seems to comes out in the wash.

I don't have much time to sit down and read every post on this forum plus I joined so I could get some answers personally not to read someone else's conversations.
I charge 35 per foot for equi pak & equi build when I use 1 180cc tube for 2 feet. I almost never use any left over material because it rarely makes a good bond w/ newer materials. I usually charge the same for extensions. Sounds like I charge more.
What about the Nolan plate, anybody use them and for what $?

Like any well run business, you supply Parts and labour.

The consumables whether retail cost to you or not
have a percentage added on.
% = your choice
Labour = per hour

When I would use vettec I would mark the tube
in 1/4 inch increments and charge $20 for every notch.
The tips cost me $2 so I charged $5 a tip.

Just like any other business you need to
not just recover cost but ya gotta get the + as well,
or its just a hobby.

I double the cost of the tube including any taxes and shipping. There are six line on the back of the tube under the label I divide the total cost by six and that is how much I charge per line and always go to next full line this will pay for tips and replacement costs.
You are in BUSINESS you are not here to lose money. If the client cant afford the work to be done to help keep there horse sound then they need to get rid of the horse.
Have the client go buy the material and equipment to use on there horses and charge an application charge. I charge $100. per hour or $1.70 a min. when you charge for time don't cheat yourself charge for total time on the job that is from the time you start to the time you Finnish you cant give a total until you are finished.

you have already charged the tube off to a previous customer, so there is no cost of the tube. What is your instaltion fee?

Trevor

You charge only for the amount of material used? What about the tube failures?

Sorry you dont want to be bothered by other people posting on this topic, maybe you should get a mentor and ask them questions.

and to stay on topic, charge what ever you want for the Nolan plate. $1,000 sounds like it would be profitable.
