TOPIC: Vettec Equi-Thane Adhere

Vettec Equi-Thane Adhere 06 Dec 2008 14:43 #1

I've got a unopened 180cc tube of Adhere that is about 5 years old.

-Been stored at room temp

Will it work to fill the top of a 2" flagpole because the hole is wallered out where the decorative, top, 7" ball was screwed in? I plan to shove the rod part of the ball in the pole filled with this stuff -about 3".

Will it set up close to the strength of when it was new?

Any special consideration using this stuff is used with all the pieces and ambient temp being in the 20's? I would think a warm horse hoof would affect the curing.

Sure is a lot of work more work getting to the top of a flagpole than to the bottom of as horse's hoof---with a few exceptions. I don't want to have to fix this again. The monetary reimbursement is non-existent.

Thanks,
Greg

I'd suggest some JB-Weld and a warmer day.

The best things about the good old days -- I wasn't good and I wasn't old.

The older I get, the more horses I shoe, the fewer things that I can absolutely, positively fix.

I doubt it would set at any temp. Too old.

I was afraid it was not one of my better ideas.

Thanks Guys,

It's worth a try to try it.

I have thought that some of my Vettec products were completely dead, (frozen, cloudy consistency, extremely out dated) and they happened to set up.

I haven't had many problems with products such as Superfast setting up when out dated, but find that Equipak is somewhat more time sensitive.

Greg,
Welcome to the boards. This is why these are such a great resorce.
You can learn somthing and if you do as I sugest here we can all learn something.
1; Gather a group of farriers over to your house and share adult beverages all around to keep everyone warm, they will be there to encourage and suport you and to make sugestions as you compleet the following steps.
2: Get someone to run the video camra.
2: Shimmy up the frosen flag pole with the equithane and the big ball
3: shoot the equithane in the hole and insert ball.
4: blow on the top of the pole and the ball to warm them untill set
5: Keep blowing for a while untill cured
6: post video so that we to can learn form your experence.

I got a new (used) oven for the house. While moving it around I decided I should hold it by the oven door handle (which was plastic). Long story short it ripped off with no way of properly bolting it back on. 3 year old bottle of adhere to the rescue. For over a year its been solidly holding my oven door handle in place.

I've got some out of date equilox holding the fiberglass handle of my splitting maul on. Split 5 cords this summer and still holding.

Well -

I tried Bill"s advice and all it got me wus 27 people with enuff insight and edukation to come up with 27 different ways to do it, usinfg 27 different stuffs--each, broken camera, really cold privates, and a hangover.

I wus doin' real good till my button got caught on that thing ya tie the rope off to. I was a good 4 1/2 ft off the ground before the plan fell appart.

Being as we are sort of a brotherhood of people that smell the same-
help a poor -down on his luck- guy out and send whiskey --camera if available for a second attempt. We got determination round here- I'm sure somehow-somewhere ,somebody has done sumthin stoopidear than I ever dun. My daddy told me that no matter what I do jus be the bests.

Seriously-
At least its for a flagpole for an American flag

Thanks Ya'll,
Greg

I tried to test the Adhere yesterday.

The resin(black part) was really thick. I could hardly squirt it out even without a mixing tube. I did get a little out and mixed it. It seemed to set OK.

I didn't use it because I was afraid I would mess up the gun from squeezing so hard.

So my experience is that 5 years is too long to store this stuff.

Thanks, Greg
