I've never seen a Scott, do you have any links or info with photos?

I really like my JHM. It has a big face and a round horn which is very important to me.

I just got a Scott anvil over the weekend. I've been eyeballing them for two years. I absolutely love it! It has no cams or clipping horns on it, a nice big round horn and a square horn and a big face. The farrier that makes them is Scott Collier in Virginia, he's probably listed on the AFA site. Good friends with Butch Hockaday of Bulldog Tools too, so you could reach him that way.

I use a Nima anvil and I wouldn't trade it for anything. They are a little pricey but well worth it. I don't know of any other horseshoers that use one though. You can see their anvils here http://www.anvils.nimbaforge.com/

Those look pretty functional. They definately got some built in ugly tho'.
I have been using a Bowerman for 4 years now. Absolutely love it. Ed Bowerman from Canada designed them several years ago and there have been a few knock-offs since. The Scott appears to be very similar. A friend of mine has a TFS, says he loves it. The Bowerman, TFS and Scott would be my choices, in that order.

Lol… :Done of my buddies dubed my anvil the “Iron Armadillo” and the name seemed to stick, because now all my shoeing buddies refer to it that way.

People seem to either think it is the coolest anvil they have ever seen or the ugliest. The artist blacksmith crowd seem to realy salavate over them.

Personally I'm putting some money away for the JHM 125 with the cams. I know, I know, but I don't really care... I use a stall jack too, so there!!! Although I almost never use the cams, it's nice when that shoe you thought you had just right hot, is just a bit off when you check the fit cold.

JHM is also available with a left handed clip horn, which would be nice as I'm left handed. I can pull clips on the face (have to right now) but it gets tricky when you need to pull more than 3 clips and you really have to plan out your clips. I also have a swedge ground into the near front corner of my anvil, and I like it. Again, it helps when pulling multiple clips as you only need the shoe over the corner of the anvil.

Bill,

I like that idea of drawing a bubble with the corner of the anvil. I'm gonna go try that today while I'm waiting for UPS and my equipack.

I have a 100 lb JHM and an Emmerson. Both nice anvils.

Hope they are Phil. Just bought the 100 lb JHM certifier. They had them on sale at Centaurforge for $419 and another $72 for shipping. A Bowerman might be in the future for the shop; but at a much later date.

Where are sources for either a Scott or Bowereman anvil?
