Would a tool sharpening shop be ok to send my tools into, or is it best to do it yourself? I would rather pay to have the nippers sharpened than me mess them up! My GE nippers are going on two years and still sharp but the St Crox are now dull after 8 months.

You post links here claiming that farriers damage horses feet with shoes and then expect us to teach you how to maintain your tools? Pay your way through farrier school. Nipper sharpening is usually a topic that is covered in the curriculum.

I managed to destroy my 14" nippers on a dutch draft import. Don't know what where in her hooves but several small triangular pieces broke off the edge of my two weeks old ge .

everyhorseisapersontoo, What do You think of those 12" nippers, what is the difference other than length ?
I've been curiose about 12" for an long time, particulary one hand cutting in mind..
Is there much difference in how much they open,(between edges) ?
How thick hoofwalls did You manage to cut with those 12" ?
