Has anyone used the ThinLine Hoof pads? I had a client give me a pair the other day and wants me to try them on her horse. I looked at them and they say to put a leather or plastic pad between the ThinLine pad and the shoe.

The thin liners I have used were just really thin black plastic pads made by Castle plastics. I have not used them much but my opinion is if ya need a pad, Ray Steeles leather/plastic,leather or ultra cusions are hard to beat for flat pads.

Jeff I dont think the horse needs pads to be honest. But she was given the pads by the tack shope she works for to try out on her horse. Here a link to the pads http://www.thinlineinc.com/store/cart.php?m=product_detail&p=73

Any kind of pad that will make my tack fit better, I have to try.

What makes them different: as a hoof pad the thinline is the most shock absorbing and weight distributing product available (tested by consumer reports and multiple outside agencies). the pad does not compress so it remains stable under the shoe for long periods while providing exceptional comfort. When used as a frog insert it behaves differently than other products as it loads when the hoof is on the ground and unloads when it is in the air. The result of this is that the frog is activated so there is increased blood flow to the hoof accelerating hoof growth and recovery from injury/founder/abcesses etc. The frog inserts also seem to halt the rotation during founder. it is also used in conjunction with boots for barefoot horses and with equicast products.
They are also very effective for horses with sore soles.

Hope that helps!

Hutch,

Can you/would you provide documentation to the above, or are your statements strictly personal observation? Thanks in advance.

If the horse does not need pads, what information does the owner expect to learn? Aren't there numerous frog support pads on the market that do not require the application of a second pad? I use the myron mclane frog support pads and the NBS frog support pads, what advantage does the thinliner pads offer that these others do not?

How do you figure they do not compress??? They feel about like the mouse pad for my computer. Best I can figure is you need the plastic or leather pad to keep the pad from getting tore apart.
