My last apprentice quit school to work for me with me telling him to finish college. I talked to him the other day and he was enrolled in college again and could make the scheduleing work because he can shoe around it.
Some years back we had a father call us from W.Va. His son didn't want college, he just wanted to come west and be a Buckaroo. Dad had given up and wanted to send young Matt out for us to train a bit and find him a job.
Tuned him up some and sent him off to work. I figured he'd quit in a month. He thought we'd been overworking him, but this rancher figured a 40 hr week was out of the way by lunch on Wednesday. Young Matt lasted a couple weeks and headed back east to go to college. Course horseshoeing can help get you thru college. Not much demand for Buckaroos around most college towns and the pay ain't real good either.
