Thank you mr Scruggs. ddft, suspensory ligament, sdft, extensor tendons.make a new topic for that.

Feel free to start another if you like. The relevancy lies within the current thread's discussion of heel fit/length, and the effects or lack thereof, on Travis' shoe job in post 1.

I don't know what you're talking about when you say I didn't know a toe could have something forged into it and jaye taught me?

I also believe the front half of the shoe should mirror the back half. So having straight quarters with hooked in heels would signify cutting the quarters.

I agree my shoe is too broad/round through the quarters but like I was suggesting I was happy to get a shoe on the foot. I would like to run into some of the people on this board with so much skill that they're not happy sometimes just to get a shoe on a foot safely.

Sorry,I´m too lazy to find exact quotes, but Jaye said something that included "before your times", and so on. I said that god job with the foot, but while looking through the monitor, it´s whole lot easier to say how to shoe a horse.

BTW, do you agree that p3`s don´t have that much of a curve in them?

I have a policy of trying to help a horse. mostly my horses are jumpers or dressagers. if they move well, and i can say that is because of physics, that´s great. but if they move well despite of of physics, that´s great too.

How can most of the barefoot animals be alive? is the heel length/support so big of a deal?

yep, and do you agree that the hoof capsule doesn't always mimic the exact shape of p3?

In a perfect world my toe quarter would have been a little straighter and heel quarter a little rounder and my toe tighter and coming into the quarters better. But, I need this shoe on that foot safely so this horse can get on the trailer!

IMO and in short, yes. Just how big of a deal it is depends on the type of foot/leg conformation and the horse's environment plays a fairly significant role as well.

Have any 'High/Low' horses on your books that you just trim? Do the feet ever "become normal" or "match"? Why?

Generally the DDFT tension has a tendency to induce negative gaussian curvature distortion in the heel horn when the ventral end of the ground force lever is inducing positive gaussian curvature distortion in the toe. ;)

I don´t have any horses that i jus trim in my books, except foals.
I think that support is a big deal in what we can provide, but with the pasture horses it doesn´t seem to matter much.
support and integrity in hoof capsule made with shoe is mostly appreciated with horses that are performing in sports.

Do you consider yourself as a bit sensitive? I told you that i liked your shoeing, but i would´ve made few things different.

I also concur that an increase in tension in the DDFT will 'support' more of a linear orientation of the most palmar tubules; in contrast, a decrease in tension will allow more of a hyperbolic orientation of the same. :D

I would love to have some of the super shoers from horseshoes.com on speed dial so they can show me how to do the perfect job on a foot like this. Unfortunately for a mere mortal like myself I had to do the best I could. Which seems to be about what travis did to his horse.
I have a perfect hoof wear kit without the shoe inserts. Wanna try it out?

Been waiting for some effed up feet to try it on. The kit came with a video for how to get a perfect hoof with perfect hoof wear.

We could test it and then apply for our perfect PhD's online. ;)

Only way to "support" palmar tubules is to place support in lines with the tubules. And you don´t want to do that if you can´t shorten the leverage in the toe.
