Did anyone attend the NEAEP Symposium?
I heard the registration was around 230.

I know Patrick Reilly had really innovative presentations using a force/pressure pad that is between the shoe and hoof measuring landing, loading, and breakover.

I thought the conference went really well. The turnout was very good for a first year event, about 220 total in attendance. Just under half of the attendees were farriers. Both vets and farriers commented positively about having vets and farriers at the same location. I would really like to have more interaction between the two with more combined lectures, so we are working on that for next year.

Added- do not look for more vet/farrier interaction at the 2010 symposium. The programs are unfortunately very divided.

I did attend this. Actually looked forward to it as I think the "mission" concept of joining Vets and Farriers together in the same venue is spot on. The organization that obviously went in to this event was great. Pat's presentation was the kind of cutting edge work I hoped to find at this conference. What work like this is going to tell us down the road is going to be of great value. I think Pat has only scratched the surface here. Some of his findings, though very limited in number/repetitions, were great eye openers, while others, (like the results from adding EquiPac to the foot), were right on with what I would expect he would find. Congrats, Pat on a well done presentation.

That being said, I found most of the rest of the agenda to be below the level I would expect, (and hoped), to find at a conference with this ones expected level of experience among its attendees. It is the NEAEP's first attempt at this and growing pains are expected.

Once again, I was disappointed in my home state's turnout at this opportunity held so close to home.
