I was wondering how much mark up we should all charge on materials,Eg pads,filler Etc What mark up do you all use??

I would think of it less as marking materials up and more as charging for your skills and time in applying them (in addition to covering your cost). Materials should only play a small part in what you charge, in my opinion. For example, if you showed up and the client handed you pads and filler...what would you charge to apply them? Would they expect you to cut out the pad, affix it to the shoe, pack the feet, and nail on the package for free just because they supplied the raw materials? What would you charge for that service?

I'm not saying you should or shouldn't charge a mark up but I know of several other professions where 50% is the normal materials mark up. So if it were 5 bucks worth of material then the customer pays 7.50.

i double up on materials and charge an hourly rate to apply them.doubling up on materials is a standard practice throughout the retail industry and charging an hourly rate i believe is also practised in just about every profession i know SO THERE YOU HAVE IT.

Cost of material + My wage = what the market will bare.

only thing i charge extra for is pads,non standard shoes and repair medium,equithane,ect ect. so $85-100+extra materials.

Where I buy most my shoes they also sell riding stuff to the public. Hoof dressings and such that the public can buy, I never undersell my dealer. Vettec work, I have a minimum price, if I use a whole tube, it is cost + 50%. As someone on this site said, we are not here to support people's hobbies.

As to you question I agree there should be at least 25% or more on your stock of any kind
you have to go get it and you use extra fuel tyres ware ect carting it around to provide the service they the client require yeah
