There is a lot of just pulling shoes out my way in the fall mainly because I live around quite a few "dude" ranches and national parks. So I charge $10 a head to just pull shoes, but if I'm trimming or shoeing them also its included in the price. I understand it does take time whether you're using a clinch cutter, a rasp or just jerking the shoe off it does take time but very little (for most horses anyway) So I guess "it depends" lol

But I have charged 5 dollars more for pulling shoes and trimming when the novice owner asks "doesn't it cost more when you have to pull the shoes" my sucker radar in the frontal lobe of my brain spits out "just 5 dollars" before I even realize what a jerk I am! lol

You have take your time, gas and when you have other horses scheduled; and they need it now before they can turn the horse out with the others. Almost always the hind shoes have to be pulled, or if toe-grabs still on when done racing. ________ Lovely Wendie99

Around here folks have you pull and trim for winter,

A trim is forty, but it does take time and effort to pull.

1/2 to 1/3 the time, different tools . . .

1. brush the foot off
2. Take it forward rasp off the clinches
3. Go back and pull the shoes
4. Clean out what was under the shoe
x4, then start the trim.

Time and effort = $10 extra

The plumber, electrician, carpenter, auto mechanic, etc. does not do extras for free.

Some don't like it, lots don't bat an eye. IMO
