Do any of you charge you're customers a fee for just pulling shoes? Or is that including in you're trim fee? If so? What is a resonable fee for 2 pulling 2 shoes? How about 4 shoes?
I have not charged for this, but thinking i may now.

Part of a trim fee. I don't just pull shoes without dressing up the feet, making sure they are the correct length.

I agree with Mikel. I wouldn't pull shoes unless I was also hired to trim/balance the horse and/or reset/shoe.

Either way, pulling the shoes is part of the cost of a trim, reset or new shoeing.

On the other hand, if an owner insisted that all they wanted me to do was pull the shoes so that they or someone else could do any subsequent work... well, what the heck, I'm in it for a buck. Let's say $500 and we'll call it a day! :D

Cheers,
Mark

Pull and trim. Less trimming, more pulling. Trim, no pull all trim. Same price.

I don't charge for pulling shoes and it would have to be someone who'd really annoyed me before I'd think about charging (and I can think of a few scenarios/people that might motivate me.). It is part of the trim fee for my clients.

If I am going to be trimming or shoeing the horse after, then I don't charge to pull them. If I am pulling them for someone who is not a client ,for something like a vet exam, and I am not going to be working on that horse after, then I charge them a nominal labor fee (10 bucks or so) .
Usually they offer payment for something like that anyway.

I don't charge to pull shoes, unless they aren't a client and just want the shoes pulled, no trim. Example, last summer I was working at a boarding facility. A group of people were going on a ride and a woman pulled her horse out to find he lost one shoe. She asked if I would pull the other one and I think I charged $10 or so.

Another case, a mare unexpectedly foaled. Owner asked me to pull the shoes. Considering the mare (3yo) was a little disheveled due to the foal, I pulled the shoes in the stall and didn't do anything else, no rasping the edges or anything. No charge.

If only that were true............... In fact I'm typing this while heading for a Reining horse show in Bremen, Germany to get a shoeing package back on. Well, I wanted to go watch the show anyway.

I had a couple customers who were going, but decided against it because a number of the classes were eliminated this year making it not as cost effective.

Have a good show.

I do charge for this...... if I understand your question correctly.....

If I trim a horse than is already barefoot to begin with, I get my regular trim charge. But, if I am pulling shoes and then trimming to go barefoot, that is a "pull and trim" in my practice, and I get $10 extra for two shoes, $15 extra for four, (added to my regular trim fee). It takes you longer = costs you money.
