You called it a "Z-bar" not me. And the only one here who is a glutton for punishment [because of its total lack of credibility] goes by the androgynous, anonymous screen name of "Just passin through".
You are forceing me to post your work again,is this what you want?
Do what you want. You've been told you don't have permission to post my work, so if you do, it will be removed.

Besides, regardless of your opinion of that shoe, the fact remains that it worked and the horse is now sound and productive. Come visit and see for yourself. The horse is about 10 minutes from my house and the owner would be eager to show you her horse.

There have been numerous discussions on the topic of anonymity by those posting here.

I've accepted that horse owners seeking out assistance may have reasonable cause to maintain an anonymous position.

That a self-proclaimed farrier would do so makes no sense whatsoever. Farriers, by virtue and necessity of their occupation, are public figures.

That both horse owners and other farriers come here seeking information, assistance and the engagement of peers, it is important that those dispensing said information and assistance represent at least a minimally credible source. I would offer that such credibility begins with identifying who you are and at least a general location.

Respectfully,
Mark

In my humble opinion one is never too old to be concerned with farriery or too old to take a test. This ole dog can learn new tricks.

anonymous, bravely posting as "Just passin through" in gray

Phil, the only reason i wanted to see your shoe board was to see if you were to old to be so concerned with Farriery.

One is never too old to be concerned with farriery.

And you are to old.

Too old for what? Older folks have passed the CF; younger folks have failed. I don't think there's much correlation between age and failure.

At 50 and being in it for 10yrs and not being able to pass your first test,is indespicible.

Nossir, given the failure rate for the AFA's CF, I think it's about typical. If you have any doubts, you have only to gut up; take the CF yourself; then get back to this forum about how not being able to pass it is "indespicible" (whatever that means).

You only have about 12 good yrs left, make as much money as you can while you can?

Ain't nobody guaranteed another day, much less 12 years. I figure you got to live each day like it was your last, do whatever makes you happy as long as it's legal (or illegal as long as you've got a good chance of not getting caught), and if I were Phil, I sure as hell wouldn't pay any attention to the criticism of somebody too damned gutless to sign their posts!

Heard this song performed by Miley Cyrus a couple of times and found the lyrics online. What a great song that says it all in my opinion. Great message for young and old.

I can almost see it
That dream I’m dreaming but
There’s a voice inside my head sayin,
You’ll never reach it,
Every step I’m taking,
Every move I make feels
Lost with no direction
My faith is shaking but I
Got to keep trying
Got to keep my head held high

There’s always going to be another mountain
I’m always going to want to make it move
Always going to be an uphill battle,
Sometimes I'm going to have to lose,
Ain’t about how fast I get there,
Ain’t about what’s waiting on the other side
It’s the climb

The struggles I’m facing,
The chances I’m taking
Sometimes they might knock me down but
No I’m not breaking
I may not know it
But these are the moments that
I’m going to remember most yeah
Just got to keep going
And I,
I got to be strong
Just keep pushing on,
cause

There’s always going to be another mountain
I’m always going to want to make it move
Always going to be an uphill battle,
Sometimes I'm going to have to lose,
Ain’t about how fast I get there,
Ain’t about what’s waiting on the other side
It’s the climb

There’s always going to be another mountain
I’m always going to want to make it move
Always going to be an uphill battle,
Sometimes you're going to have to lose,
Ain’t about how fast I get there,
Ain’t about what’s waiting on the other side
It’s the climb

Keep on moving
Keep climbing
Keep the faith baby
It’s all about
It’s all about
The climb
Keep the faith
Keep your faith
Whoaaa Ohwaoooh

Ok, did a reset on this little lady today. I got started before I took any pics, but this is before I took my nippers to the foot.

I'm really likeing this mod. I used to use a lot of rocker toes, but I got to thinking... "Why am I putting square toes on everything?"

I think overall this is about as good as I could have expected. I scr@ped at the edges to make sure that it was just the laminae drying and cracking, and not a continued infection.

That is a great theoretical treatise, but it does not provide any proof of effectiveness nor does it explain how frog presssure will assist in the cessation of P3 movement in the hoof capsule. The paper even further states that the heart bar should not be used in the true sinker.

The computer model of the hoof did appear to have a better basis in its construction than the weather model :) However, I am still awaiting the research data to show the benefits of the heart bar.
well doc!!!, don't take this as a cheap shot, but first you have to understand circulation of the lower part of the limb, namely the hoof capsule & how it functions in regards to circulation, the heart bar is not there to stop the cessation of the P3 in regards to restraint, its there to slow circulation of the blood supply hence slowing & lessening the damaging affects of the toxins & chemical carried in the blood & reaction to the cell tissues effected , its no different to putting a pressure bandage on a venomous spider or snake bite, the more you can slow the speed of travel the less server the reaction, the more chance of cell tissue effected has copping & surviving.

Oh & by the way they do take the bandage off after they administer the antivenin Or antihistamine & hook you on a drip of saline when your vitals start returning, hence the bar shoe is only till the hoof settles & stabilised then you take it off and deal with what damage & rotation your left with
