Joey,
thats a bang up job. almost identical to one we are working on know.

Dr. Meyers,
Its interesting to me that a study exists that corroberates what I bumbled across on my own. Did the study test wall (laminar load) or amount of displacement?
I know I will be crucified for saying this, but i a beggining to think that ALL forms of sole support, frog support, wedging, rocking, rolling, clogging et al are severeley limited in there curative capabilities in a laminitic situation. I am not a math guy, but the shear mass of the horse and the forces created by static load, interaction with the ground and down force appear to exceed the ability to negate the need for laminar attachment--- no or poor laminar attachment equals rotation or sink. I think all of these appliances limit the rapidity and perhaps the degree of sink/rotation but I am not certain they can stop it.
I think the next advancement in laminitis will need to be at the cellular level aimed at disrupting the breakdown of the basement membrane--- the mechanical "solutions" are supportive at best and useless at worst.

or we could put them on the moon, in free fall or swim them 24/7.
heres another wild and radical thought: I think it might be possible that large wedges are helpful in some cases not because they reduce the pull of the ddft (which they do) but becuase they transfer much of the downforce to the suspensory ligament.(assuming frog support) If the fetlock begins to descend into the 'loaded" phase i think it is possible that some of the downforce is no longer on the laminae, but being absorbed by the SL.
Jason

In a case such as Joey's where the uninfected laminae are strong these devices are far more usefull.
let the crucifiction begin,

Apologize to Mr. Stoval and tell us who you are first and will show pictures of my shoe display.

Phil,the only reason i wanted to see your shoe board was to see if you were to old to be so concerned with Farriery.And you are to old.At 50 and being in it for
10yrs and not being able to pass your first test,is indespicible.You only have about 12 good yrs left,make as much money as you can while you can?

Hi all,

And if you were a real farrier you might know the answer to that question. Oh and did you ever figure out who Dave Duckett is?

Why would being a real farrier have anything to do with that?Seeing you are from canada,why don't you go shoe red hushes horse and prove you are more than just a big mouth?

Hi all,

Most real farriers would know the steps to become a CF. She's hot 4000 miles closer and . . . . Anyway you seem unable to talk the talk so lets see your work.
