Thomas:

There was a complaint that some people needed to log back in every time they tried to go to a new page. We think we fixed that. The site was trying to use the memory of the browser (Internet Explorer, Firefox Etc) instead of it's own memory.

People were getting registration confirmation requests that they should not have. This was cause by a robot computer looking to cause a hassle. We think we fixed this too.

We are still testing. There will still be new issues we can't fix until we see them. Once we are comfortable that the site is functioning the way it should, we will announce our launch. Again, this was supposed to be a soft launch, because we knew there would be issues that we could only detect once we had members using the site.

Like I said, IMO all we need to know is:

Is it fixed?
If not what do we do?
or When will it be fixed?

and no jargon - I don't know about others but I wouldn't know what the heck you're on about when you talk about "Robot computers" and browser memories etc etc etc.... Please don't explain because I don't think I need to know either.

I'm here merely for the enjoyable experience of talking to and exchanging with those with a common interest in horses.

Don't give a fig about IT or interwebz stuff.

That's all news to me? A soft launch??? Still doing UAT???

My recollection is that the communications were all around how it was going to be all bells and whistles and much better and nothing much to worry about at all other than we'd need to save any PM's or information on profile pages.

As it is, I can't help feeling that the transition has not gone well and for those of us who have eventually managed to wrestle our way back in here that the user experience is very poor.

Has anyone figured out how to delete a post? I'm "testing", but would like to not have to clutter up the forum with a lot of shi t.

I have had problems attempting to change avatars and personal info that it says I dont have, yet my old avatar is still there?? I understand it is going to take some time for the bugs to get worked out and I figure out how to navigate this new format. But is there a new posts button like the old site? It sure made life awhole lot easiler just clicking on it? Thanks for all you do, change is difficult sometimes still attempting to understand the presidents new ideas for change, they dont seem to work good either.... :)

Gary just click on recent Topics (between index and New Topics) above your avatar pic and the page will refresh. Im sure if we all stick together we can work it out, I'm lucky as this format is similar to a bike forum I use.

UPDATE

REGISTRATION EMAILS I have no idea how the emails are still going out but there were more this morning so I have had the host just shut down all outgoing emails until we figure it out. That means you wont receive post notifications by email for a while. But it should also mean you won't get the spam. The host thought my emailer could be "hijacked" but I think it could be the program is still misconfigured. The designer has spent a lot of time chasing this so for now I am going to assume it as been compromised so just turning it off until we find the issue. FYI, I have over 10,000 emails in my inbox and cannot access them. I'll work on that issue later but dont expect emails from me today.

FONT SIZE The post font size is not adjustable from within the program so I was working on editing the code in the CSS files of the template when I got sidetracked on the email thing again when they started going out. Since the font size is the most annoying thing I see right now I'm going to get back on it and should have it improved in a couple of hours.

SERVER At least the server seems to be able to handle the load. keeping the site up for 12+hrs is major step forward

Steve -

Jut add this to the end of your shape5 template css.
#Kunena .kreply-form .inputbox {
font-size:12px !important;
}

If you add it to your site template css you won't have to redo it when you update your forum sofware. Should take 2 minutes instead of hours.

I think your host provider is correct.

When time allows, could you investigate a possible "preview" option in the forum reply codes?

Cheers,

Re: EMAIL and Post Font Size 29 Jan 2012 20:16 #26

Seeing as I am not very computer suave and I am of the older generation, I must admit that I am having difficulty learning and maneuvering through the new site. Personally, there is much about the old site that I prefer. At the top of the list is the ease with which one could use the old site. In particular, being able to quickly and easily with one click see the current posts; find old posts; see who was online and what their recent or current activity was; could easily find what my personal "last" activity was...which at my age is a plus, seeing as how I often forget which posts I have read and have not read, knowing where I left off was always a big help and saved me lots of time searching through all the posts; finding members was also a lot easier on the old site.

I will give this a few more days. But as it stands right now, the new site is far too cumbersome. And perhaps I would be better served obtaining my horses hoof advice from other sources. :(

Yep, that fixed it... almost too big now! :blink: :lol:

That's okay. Saves me the new glasses prescription I was pondering. Actually, setting it to the same size as the presentation font in the viewable threads would have got the job done.

Cheers,
Mark
