excellent test of what should be everyday knowledge for the working farrier. I look forward to the next one.

there are a few things that need clarification/tweaking.

Thanks for doing it!

I have put together an on-line anatomy quiz for all hoof care professionals to brush up and test there anatomy.

Let me know how you go and remember there is more than 1 answer for some of the questions.

Any feedback would be appreciated as I am working on the next one which will be more advanced.

Good Quiz Derek, very interesting.
I have to take exception with one question, as it is a pet peeve of mine. The palmar (or plantar) surface of P3 articulates with the navicular bone, while the bottom of P3 would be more accurately referred to as the solar or ventral surface of P3. The term "negative palmar angle" is technically inaccurate.

Nice quiz, I know I am being difficult:)

I know the term is commonly used, but to my knowledge it is not used correctly. If you ask either veterinarian and they think I am incorrect, please let me know.

Mr.Poupard,

I only noticed three things, that haven't been mentioned. 1) all of the answers on the "label this foot" questions were a. 2) the foot was labled with red numbers which didn't show up real well. 3) questions with single answers had circles to click, questions with multiple answers had squares ( it was sort of a give away that you could expect multiple answers even before reading the question)

Lastly, I don't know if it was my computer or the test but I could see any pictures on the last 20-25 questions and the questions were referring to the photos.

Hope this helps

Hi David
Thanks for the feedback

The program generates and scrambles the answers, it might have been pure co-incidence but will look into it with next version

I had white letters they were even worse, may need another colour, will check. I had not noticed the square versus round - good spot.

You must have had a slow connection that did not download the pictures in time. I have tried to compress the pictures to load quicker.

Hope this helps
It does thanks

Hi David
Thanks for the feedback

Mr. Poupard,

I work ( day job while I get back into Shoeing) at the 3rd largest university in the state of GA ( USA) and this is finals week so there is a possibility that our almost 25,000 students were all online when I was taking that quiz and slowing my connection enough to cause the problem. However, I thought I'd still let you know in case you did have an issue on your end.

If you are making that quiz for a school then I'd say it's a very good quiz. If you were thinking of the guys on here ( or maybe horseowners) as your target I might suggest making all the questions multiple guess so that spelling errors won't effect the outcome.

Thanks to the feedback I have just finished the advanced quiz. There are no multiple answer questions, very few typing questions and I have referenced 90% of it so if in doubt you can check where I got the questions from.

This is a tough one and should be up in the next 24 hours and posted here.

I have always found these type of educational question and answers my best learning tool as it sticks more when you get it wrong.

Good luck and enjoy learning.

Pat is correct on the "palmar angle" nomenclature. It is technically a solar angle as only the front hoof can even have a palmar angle as the hind would technically have a plantar angle. It has come into common use and likely needs more appropriate nomenclature.

Center of articualtion is another 'bug' as what is commonly referred to as the COA is actually the center of rotation of the coffin joint. Using the 'center terms' (COA and COR) does actually need reference to a specific joint. Center of articulation is actually where the two joint surfaces coincide at their point. There is a center of rotation of the coffin bone that is Duckett's Dot.

Thanks for that Dr. Myers
There needs to be a glossary of acceptable terms on these issues as most of the material that I have used in this Quiz I have sourced from the internet, even this site and was under the impression that it was reliable and acceptable.

I will redo this Quiz and I am heading towards
COR (rotation) versus COA (articulation) and get COR into more of an acceptable phrase, which it is in the U.K.
Negative/Positive Solar Angle of the Coffin bone (N/PSA) versus palmar/plantar

Does this go down any better to all you educated forum members.
