Why would you say this?

E-head. use a E forepunch, City head, use a City forepunch.... you still have to watch your depth and pitch.

What makes a difference?

Just curious... am I missing something?

I was just asking, because you used to have to make your own forepunch for either E or City head. Can you use a manufactured forepunch instead; I didn't know if it had changed, in the last 17 yrs. All my forepunches are all hand-made for different nail heads, but they lose the temper very so after use. .............by the way, how can I keep the temper better on these hand-made forepunches, quickly in between making shoes......I keep bee's wax around to.

You don't have to punch holes in handmade swaged raceplates.....? How do you put 'em on, Super glue?

You can make your own or buy what you need. I don't believe making tools to work with is a requirement any longer....

I thought you ran a farrier supply... you should be up on all this stuff. Go look on the shelves and get yourself a new set of forepunches...

Could this hand-held-punching-machine-thingy be used to punch an aluminum race plate?

I have never heard of it.

Are they still available?

It would be nice to have something to give a bit more pitch without heating or having a round nail-hole.
