Go get your self registered to vote this fall. Though this isn't a Farrier organization issue the results of the November election will effect us all.

And as long as you don't vote for a Republican or Democrat, you might actually make some sort of difference.

Actually you you will join with 1.5 percent of voters while the other 98.5 percent vote for someone who has a chance of winning. Then pick the one who stinks the least.
My point was to get us involved, not get myself in trouble writing about politics.

You just made the point to not get involved since it means nothing in the end. Republican = Democrat, Democrat = Republican

No matter which figurehead you vote for, the Gubment gets into power. I believe we are at an awkward time politicly, its too late to work within the system and to early to begin slitting throats.

If you don't vote, then you don't have the right to complain about the who's in office. That's the reason I vote!!

Josh, they would just love for all you independant thinkers to not get involved. Let the sheep fight it out and take whatever comes down the pipe.

Complain about what? A bunch of complainers who have about as much effect as bailing out a sinking boat with a teaspoon. Politicians are right where they belong, behind a desk on the news as entertainment and out of the real world. :D

You have an obligation to cast an informed vote. You have an obligation not to cast an uninformed vote.

LOL Jack, plenty of ways to get informed. Is the information you receive credible? I try to go with the one that holds the same core values that I hold and that is becoming a rare thing. I honestly do not understand why a person like Bill Clinton was ever elected and is still popular, why this country would elect an actor like Regan and why people go into politics in the first place.

George tells it like it is.
Voting is an illusion of choice.
The owners won't hear of it.

"Electronic voting" is the exact same thing as going into a voting booth, pulling a curtain, and having a man behind yet another curtain.
You tell him who you want to vote for and trust he'll write down what you choose.
Nobody would do that...but they'll sure trust a computer that has been proven time and time again to have the capabilities to be corrupted, fix the results, then vanish as if it was never there.

Oh! But we caught them trying that...so it's all good now....right?

We have too much invested in invading other foreign nations perpetually and killing millions of innocent civilians to have all that come to an end.

Read "The Creature From Jekyll Island".
And for all you doubting Thomas':

We've all heard Obama's 2011 "deadline" for beginning troop withdrawals from Afghanistan, but The Huffington Post has an article that highlights the striking divide between rhetoric and policy in the Obama Administration.

During a dinner hosted by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton for Afghan President Hamid Karzai in May, Gates reminded the group that he still feels guilty for his role in the first President Bush's decision to pull out of Afghanistan after the Soviet withdrawal in 1989, according to Bob Woodward's new book, "Obama's Wars." And to express his commitment to not letting down the country again, he emphasized:

"We're not leaving Afghanistan prematurely," Gates finally said. "In fact, we're not ever leaving at all."

This story comes from Woodward's new book Obama's War (an article on the subject can be read here), but it really strikes at the disconnect between rhetoric and action that plagues many administrations. A recent example is Obama declaring an end to combat operations in Iraq, even though our country has 50,000 troops still stationed there, still fighting, and sadly still dying. Nothing of substance changed, only the name...

The article finishes by quoting Gen. Petraeus:

"You have to recognize that I don't think you win this war. I think you keep fighting. You have to stay after it. This is the kind of fight we're in for the rest of our lives and probably our kids' lives."

It highlights everything that is wrong with our foreign policy. We've been in Germany and Japan since the end of WWII - 65 years - but what is our troops' "mission"? Defending industrialized nations? Occupying sovereign nations? What exactly are we doing?

When there is no clearly defined mission, you'll never have success. We'll continue to be stuck in wars without end because there is always some excuse, some reason, to continue to stay.
http://www.campaignforliberty.com/index.php#38652

...and this...is what we got from the election that promised an end to the wars.

Yeah...I register...and I vote. It will be interesting to see if more than 12% agree with me this time.
I vote my conscience. Which means my choices are very, very few.

I got to agree with you Scott.
I know we were in Germany as a deturant during the Cold War. After the wall went down, our presents isn't needed so much. Japan, keeps us closer to korea as we are only allowed so many troops in Korea.

Afghanistan is getting spilled over into Pakistan. From what I read it is getting misison creep. There are no winners in Afghanistan, ask the one who conquered the known world (at the time), and the Russians.

We talk about the importance of being critical thinkers and not drinking the coo laid in this profession. What about Politics, War and Rights? Here is some food for thought to help people think. Rest in peace George.
