Clint I agree with your thoughts on raising your son and treating others.
I live the by the same code.

I am not sure I disagree with Mike or Josh or any others, but I do know when i read some of their posts I get a strong sense of seperation or anarky.

This is why I ask for them to explain how they would do or run the country better.

I personally think we all make the problems worse by voting in people who sit in these positions for to many years.
They are excited when first elected, but once they are there for a while they learn to play the Washington game and settle in scratching each others back to get something done. And come election time they are gung ho to get something done for the area where they represent so as to get re elected.

Put folks in office who will do the job of the majority.

Whoops did I use the word majority ?

Was it Josh who said it is wrong, when 51% say yes and the other 49 % say no, to go with the 51 %.

What I want to know is how do you get anything accomplished when your trying to acomodate everyones wishes ?

Mr. Mike,

Your right, but that's what people think the police do and therein lies the problem. The biggest problem is most people can't or wont take care of themselves. They expect local and federal government to do that for them.

It's a matter of education and maybe one of spirit. The story of our founding and building is certainly one of the greatest accounts in all of history. Those people not only faught to be free but packed family and belongings and went into a wilderness to build a life or die trying. It made for strong people and a strong nation. We have largely lost that.

Seperation works ok for me.

What the majority wants is only relevant within the coinstraints of the constitution and what the government is given jurisdiction over...which was meant to be very limited. Read the Decloration of Independance and the Constitution.

Early on, people served a term of elected office and then went home to, again, live among their neighbors. No longer. Now they serve a short term and get a huger salary for life. There is NO accountability.

The MANY who pay little or nothing and the career politicians just keep voting themselves raises. The few who still have the ability to get something done are paying for the party.

Sit down and clearly and precisely show us in print how you would run this country.
I would run the country in accordance with the Constitution. As president you don't have much power except the power of the veto. I would exercise this power on every new bill that came across my desk that was for more than one subject, or had any pork what so ever attached. I would also require an old law be removed from the books for every new law. If these terms were not met then I just pull out the VETO stamp. If then congress wanted to exercise their right to over ride than that's OK.

You make a really good point Bruce! You cant satisfy everyone, so dont try. Its really not governments job to make people happy. Everyone (congressman, PTA members, city council) has their pet issues they want to make into law. The thing is a lot of these laws effect so many people negatively. Thats why government should not be involved in micro managing peoples lives like they do today. Stop trying to make everyone happy and let people be free to live their lives as long as they dont harm another.

Actually, thats not entirely true. You are the head of the executive branch (All federal law enforcement agencies). One of the first things that should be done is to stop the drug war. Deal the cartels in Mexico a fatal blow after all drug dealers only exist because of prohibition, just like Al Capone.

No sir the constitution gives that power of the congress. There is a reason why the framers of the Constitution but the duties and responsibilites of the Legislative Branch first.

A responsability of Congress. Article 1, Section 8, To provide for the calling forth the Militia to execute the Laws of the Union, suppress Insurrections and repel Invasions.

I will say on a positive note. I do like the respect the current administration is showing the rest of the world. For too long this country has ruled with an iron fist, totally takeing the rest of world for granted. We also live our lives with way too much paranoia and think the only way to live is to be in power and have control.

He needs to stop apologizing for us. We take care of lots of people all over the world and he's out there promising to do more of it and taking the blame for everything. He should have ran for president over there. I don't think he really likes America much.

I agree. But, if he is going to apologize for us, then the next time one of those countries comes to us, hat in hand, begging for help, he should apologize and tell them we are no longer in the hand-out/help business. And while he is apologizing, he should also tell them that if they want our help, they can d*amn well pay for it. And then he can apologize for that too. Better yet, maybe he should just apologize to the American people for his actions, words, deeds.

I agree with do not help. Did they ask for help? Is helping a disguise for control.
