Well put Rick. Government help has turned into entilments.

CW,
Check with the drug company. Many big drug manufactures give millions of dolars worth of drugs away to needy indivuals each year.

My point wasn't, poor me. We are more fortunate than most. I do have a good business I have built over the past 20 years, that with the exception of the ever increasing health costs, still pays the bills. There are others that inspite of their willingness to work and not be a "burden" on society or family or whatever, they do need some kind of help. Yes, pharmicutical companies in the united states are blood suckers. I will bet alot of your older relatives have issues whether to pay for medicine or for their homes. It would be great if we all would help each other but we don't or can't, all the time. So that is why sometimes our tax dollars go to help others. Even others we will never meet. And no matter what party is in office, one way or the other that is what happens. I don't know about you guys but I have always taught my kids to be charitable. Love thy neighbor, treat others as you want to be treated, do not judge less thee be judged. etc. etc.......

Tom said. "Why the racist bs?"

Yeah thats right I must be racist simply because I dont love Obama. I couldnt care less what color this countrys prez is as long as he does what is right for the country. You sound as if you think I dont want him in there simply because he is black and that is just not true. I would have voted for him too if I thought he was the best for the job. I dont base my vote on the color of the ones running. The black people might not have single handly won him the election but the fact remains a lot of them did base their vote on his color. And thats just ****** in my book. I know its not the end of the world. I just stated what I thought to be so. Dont label me a racist you dont know me. I think this is the same kind of junk that got him a lot of the other votes "if your not for him you MUST be racist". Thats a load of cra p.

A great moment in history, our first Hawaiian American President.

I was able to identify with his white half, being white myself, after all.

Or, maybe it was because he worked his way thru college or that he graduated near the top of his class from Harvard or he can speak in complete sentences with correct pronunciation or he can defend his thoughts logically instead of with slogans or he seems to understand you can't solve the country's problems with seven word answers that will fit on a bumper sticker or he was wise enough not to choose a VP like Palin or he choose not to pander to the extremists in either party or he doesn't think God is only on his side or his campaign didn't use lies, unfounded rumors and innuendo against his opponent....

I'm just your average, fiscally conservative, social liberal who is sick and tired of the Republican party wanting to stick their nose in my life. It's time for them to get their own house in order.

I want freedom FROM their religion. My God doesn't seem to think any war is holy and is probably tired of all wack jobs stating His opinions for Him.

If the government does anything, they should address the excessive charges of the drug companies the doctors and hospitals. They hike the prices because they know that the government (medicare, medicaid, etc) or the insurance companies will have to pay it. They are not operating directly with the consumer in a free market environment. If they were they'd have to lower their prices because most people would not or could not afford it. If the federal government mandates that everyone will have insurance, this will only increase their prices. The US government is notorious for overspending. They've spent 50,000 tax dollars on a toilet seat, how much do you think they'll spend on tylenol? Health care costs will increase. The insurance companies are not gonna come out on the short end of the stick, they are gonna pass the buck by increasing their rates. But then the federal government will step in on the side of the citizen and compensate the insurance companies. Who pays for that? The tax payer who by this time will probably be living in a cardboard box because he has been taxed out of business. People seem all too eager for this tax the rich and give to the poor concept, but as a business man there are 3 aspects to taxes; the tax rate- is what the government says you owe, the tax liability- is what you pay after you find all your deductions and loopholes, the tax burden- is what you then pass on to the consumer. That means higher prices for everything from milk, to gasoline, to automobiles, to light bills. When you vote for a party that is for raising taxes, it affects everyone's pocket book, not just the rich guy. Socialism has been tried before and has never yielded the utopian ideals it puts forth.

That last sentence is kind of the pot calling the kettle black isn't it?
How is the Republican party sticking their nose in your life?
What you do in your own bedroom is not a problem, we just don't think you ought to be able to get married. This is the only issue to which I can think you would be inferring. Your free to practice whatever religion you like, you can worship a cream cheese bagel, the republican party does not care. If you don't think I'm right go ahead and try it. I bet mccain isn't gonna bust your door down and snatch that bagel away.

The republicans that want to teach religion in the science classes with "intelligent design" in my kids' school; trying to outlaw stem cell research; interfering with a woman's right to choose what happens in her body, opposition to assisted suicide, the hard core intolerance of anyone that disagrees with their ideas....in general their un-Christ like form of Christianity is what bothers me the most.

So, I guess with the fanny-whooping they got on tuesday, there is alot of folks with the same opinion .

Do you mean to say that Christ would be glad to help someone kill their unborn child? or help someone commit suicide? or teach us that we come from monkeys?

what is un-christ like about "intelligent design"? What is un-christ like about protecting the life of an unborn child? I see no difference between this and murder. Mccain FYI is not a real big social conservative, these issues you state were not his strong suit and that is why he had trouble motivating his base. And I would not attribute Obama's victory to people agreeing with you. I think he won merely because he was a cool guy. I bet 75% of those who voted for him could not tell you one accomplishment he's had in his life or even what his stance was toward anything. He's a rock star. I was talking to a guy named David that works at the barn I was at today about this, he is a friendly guy, he cleans stalls all day for a little better than minimum wage, he lives in brand new public housing that looks like luxury apartments, he collects welfare, he collects disability. I asked him how he was disabled because last time I was there I gave him 5.00 to do a back flip. He said he was a "slow learner". (Where is the line to get that check) But he was so happy Obama had won because he said that obama was gonna send him money for his bills so he wouldn't have to worry about anything anymore and all he'd do all day would soon be drinking and fishing. This guy didn't have a clue who or what Obama was about all he cared about was that #1 he was black and #2 he was gonna send money to poor people. Clearly he was from the ask not what you can do for your country ask what your country can do for you mindset. People like this are a dime a dozen down here. They are not all high minded secular progressives or atheists who are offended to be living in a country that was founded on judeo-christian principles.

Speaking of intolerance, have you been following the protests out west? The gay activists are not only intolerant but they're militant. That's in addition to being crazy. One was quoted as saying that proposition 8 took marriage from 20,000 couples making their children b a s t a r d s.

Just some helpful advice should any of them be reading here...trying to stop traffic by standing in front of it doesn't seem like the best idea.

My poor attemtp at humor. :)

Sad to say this, however the point is people white or black do vote based on color. Whites have proven this for decades. I think it is about time we get the pompus older white guy out of the white house. Too bad it was not a woman. I would have voted for Hilary Cliniton, maybe in 4 years it will be Palin vs Clinton and Saturday Night Live will have 4 years to come up with some good stuff. :)

It took Obama less than 48 hours to insult one of the finest First Ladys in our country's history........

Better campaign, Tom? Not terribly hard to do when you can out spend your opponent 10 to 1 because you duped him into thinking that you were a man of your word and would accept the public funding like you BOTH agreed upon.....

And the "man of change" sure went old school Washington, status-quo, partisan insider in his both his VP and Chief of Staff picks..........

He sure is a slick talker though........ at least the last slickster we had as President spent his time gettin' hummers in the oval office..... this one might really want to actually screw things up.....
