Why should anyone be guarinteed any thing beyound emergency care.
Ad absurdum: Why should emergency care be guaranteed? (Hint: The same answer applies to both questions.)
I believe a society that takes care of the least of its members is infinitely superior to any society that leaves the old folks of all ages out on the ice
And I bellieve that if we teach self reliance there will be no need for society to step in. Because people won't need societies help they will take care of thier own, young and old alike.
You can teach self-reliance until the cows come home, but not every member of a society will become, or remain, self-reliant. Stuff happens. There has never been a society in which some members did not need a helping hand.
National healthcare could easily exist as an adjunct to medical insurance for folks unable to afford insurance.
Why should my tax dollars go to anyones health care but my own?
Because you are a member of society.
Did you know that HMOs exist due to congressional mandate?
Another example of why the Politicians should stay away from issues that are better left to commercial enterprizes and the people to decide.
LMAO! Deregulation has certainly worked wonders for the Savings and Loans, airlines, utilities, insurance, Wall Street, banking, etc.
The Law of Unintended Consequences bit America in the butt!
The Law of political intervention is more like it.
As badly as it must upset folks who get their information from Limbaugh, Fox News, and similar sources, not all government intervention is a Bad Thing. Laissez Faire economics invariably results in monopolistic economic entities and/or economic practices that screw the consumer. [Need an example? Please see above: S&Ls, airlines, Wall Street, utilities, etc.]
