TOPIC: AFA Elected officials, what to you look for?

Well actually the job at A&M is a 40 hour a week position and that is less time than most working farriers put into their private practices in a week.

Again, that comment about A&M was made only to prove a point about timing of PF magazine when it was thrown out that I did not know what I was talking about on the timing of the PF ad and the A&M interview process. I never mentioned it until that was brought up by Jaye that he knew someone that had interviewed in an effort to prove the ad was timely. I did not mention it as I do not think it makes me special. So far I have not been offered the job and very well may not have it offered, so why would I think applying makes me special?

Well,as for pay scale; not all of us are interested in the same thing in this business. I used to be focused on the income level, but at this stage in my life, my focus has changed and though the job pays less than can be made in the private sector, that (pay scale) was not my #1 reason for applying.

Talk to poker players and just like farriers they all have different strategies. LOL

Time to close this thread again.... it's gotten way off base. Start a new one called potential A&M job candidates. Martin you're lacking focus here.

Norman, just answering questions and explaining how I know that my facts are straight when I answered statement, by Jaye, that said that I did not know the facts about timing of PF magazine in relation to ad that had been paid for by A&M is all I was doing. Then when Dave made comment that he did not want a VP that would not have time to serve I answered that statement as well. Also when commented about pay scale not being enough it appeared that the statement was directed toward maybe I needed the job for the $$$, so I addressed that issue as well.

I hear complaints that people in leadership don't communicate and since the questions and statements were made in a civil manner and with no apparent malice involved I felt they needed addressed.

But thanks so much for watching over our shoulders to make certain we stay on track. I do really appreciate your jumping in there. Never hurts to have checks and balances for certain. Good leaders always appreciate that in those around them.

PS.
I received my March/April PF magazine today I'm so excited, I may not be on here again tonight as it looks like some good stuff in there I'd rather read than sit by this darned computer. So until I finish reading my PF. Have a great night!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It is how well you shoe a horse, so he performs at his best advantage, IN SPITE of his personal issues. Forge work is simply a tool that MAY be...

I see it a little different.... You used the ad as a little "throw away" statement about the poor management of the AFA publication. It turned out to be a little more involved than you thought, as the farrier community is small. Use better judgement and think out the effects of your posts more clearly. The AFA Membership is watching......

I did also. And, the members and the vet school.

Very , very small. Bill Adams, in Califonia, shoes some horses I had shod and I am from Atlanta. Dianne Lemmon shod some horses in Maine that I shod in Virginia. The horse world is small. Shod numerous horses from around the Charlotte area and so on.......................

Yep, a "Real Leader" would have taken the information I gave and or "Martin's experience" and moved to a platform "that all Veternarian teaching hospital s should have a farrier ON STAFF"; not just on the payroll.

There is your platfrom Martin; glad I could help the organization and "The member(s)". If implemented, one would be killing a few birds with one "IDEA"

Most leaders say "WE" not "I" .:rolleyes:

Thus an opprotunity for the organization;

Norman and Jaye speaking of a small farrier world, when I get the chance to ask other farriers if they heard of the farriers I talk to on this forum, most names do not ring a bell. Jaye I have not found a single person outside of this forum in the North East that has ever heard of you or know who you are. I started asking around a few years ago.

And that has nothing to do with the subject of this thread, nor, for that matter, can any discussion originating from your post result in any useful information concerning farriery or hoofcare. In other words, don't post junk like that. And Jaye, do us all a favor and ignore it.
