buying snow rims online....europe

Thinking about winter shoeing and want to give the snow rims a go. Never seen them here in Greece and they don't use them in the UK. Can someone recommend a site where i can buy online.

Also, will they be straightforward for my farrier to fit? I am not sure he will have seen the like of them before.

Look at Bradley's link --- items 19 and 20. It's a rim pad with a tube that lines the inside border of the shoe to prevent snow from sticking. Very effective.

Ray that is really generous of you and thanks for the offer. My friend is also interested though and i've found a site in england that has them. Stromsholm, 9 pounds, that's about 10 euros atm for the huf grip ones.

You could come down and put them on for us though!

I expect that's a per pair price, about what I pay here. I like the Stromsholm. We have wind, hence quite a bit of bare ground and it's a bit tougher than the open tube types. If that's what you go with, tell your farrier it works from some sole pressure and not to over thin the sole.

Sorry but I don't know Euros or Lb values, but I get them from Pro farrier Supplies and they are $8.00 pr. CDN. They come in fronts and hinds and are "Castle Black Rim Snow Pads". Their link is www.profarriersupply.com
If your horse has regularly shaped hooves in front and back, these rims do not adept well front to back or vice versa, otherwise they are excellent for preventing snow balling up. Hind hooves ball up much less because of the twisting action IMO.

I agree and if a client wants to save a little, I often will only put the front pads on.

No, they mean each pad. I actually use the Huf Cushion model AF and AH - American Front and American Hind - 4 pounds each. The huf grip is the original snow rim pad and is a rip off. It's expensive, hard to trim, hard to apply and fragile The huf cushion works as well for snow and is easier to fit, tougher and cheaper. If your horse has exceptionally large feet, bigger than a three, the AF and AH will be too small, but I don't think that is the case.

You might also google on Mustad snow rim pads, I know that they have a place in Switzerland.
