Swine Flu hits farrier in Vermont

I have been sick for roughly 2 weeks and out of work for 5 days.
I finally went to my Dr. today.

Had chest x-ray and physical.

I am on the down hill side of the ordeal according to my Dr.

The person who has been coming over and caring for me now is home with the flu....

Thank goodness for our business. I was able to reschedule everyone and will start working on horses again tomorrow.
I just WON'T try to do everyone in one day.

I have NEVER been this sick before that I can remember.

my 2 cents worth

Wish I hadda known you were sick. I'd have brewed you up a pot of Jewish penicillin aka: Chicken soup.

Glad you're on the mend. Take it slow and easy my friend.

Re: Swine Flu hits farrier in Vermont

Bruce,
Sorry to hear about you getting sick.............it's no fun.
In Canada we have had approx. 90 deaths from this H1N1 flu strain......the number of deaths per year from the regular flu is usually around 4,000. Hard to know what to do with all the misinformation. Personally I'm skipping that shot, but have had the regular one. If you really want to sell something just mention that there's a shortage or you're running out of supply. Wonder if we could do that with our services.?

Re: Swine Flu hits farrier in Vermont

Today the 15th person has died from the H1N1 today in Dallas. Everyone so far has had some other prediagnosed problems? Anyway some of my clients kids had it and they said the fever was terrible for them. I can only relate to my past ordeal with Malaria. Lots of sweat with that, hope you feel well my friend!

Re: Swine Flu hits farrier in Vermont

I was sitting at the computer yesterday and I passed out.

It was really weird. I saw a dark hole and I was spiraling down it.
When I came to I was face down on my computer and the trash can I had been using as a spit tune was knocked over.
Have no idea how long I was out. Most likely just a few second.

The flu came on like a rush. I was at Tunbridge giveing a talk with 3 other shoers and by the end of the day i was a sic puppy.

Re: Swine Flu hits farrier in Vermont

feel better Bruce!

Its hard to know if you have actually had N1H1.

Hospitals are required to report, treat and diagnose anything resembling the flue as H1N1.

The regular seasonal flue has killed 40,000+ here in the US. Swine flue has killed .0125% of that figure. Dont get me wrong, thats plent of people but this swine flue hysteria is out of control.

Re: Swine Flu hits farrier in Vermont

I know , but I didn't diagnos it, my Dr. did.
So am only going on what he said.

But either way, Swine Flu or cow Flu this stuff was the worst I have ever experienced in 60 years of my recollection.

I don't wish it on anyone.

Dont rush back to work.My buddy is a Doc and says a week after the fever is gone you may still be able to pass it on.The other side issue is pneumonia , you dont want to have a weak system and get complications from it. Take care. Rick Sweitzer

THANK YOU, finally a voice of reason in all the ridiculous hysteria, the drug companies have been trying for decades to create a "pandemic" and they've finally succeeded, anyone care to guess how much they'll make off this simple little flu? Talk about Barnum and Bailey.

Re: Swine Flu hits farrier in Vermont

I rarely take medicine for any reason, pills, syrup etc....

I tried cough syrup, robitusin and it made me nauesus from being so sugary sweet.

I have been copeing with plhem until I went out yesterday and did what my wifes grandmother used to do for a cold in her family.

I bought a jar of "APPLE CIDER VINEGAR" and put a small amount in a cup and squeezed in some honey.
I just sipped on it and I am telling you the honest truth, I SLEPT ALL NIGHT LONG WITH NOT ONE COUGH.....
I have been up an hour and haven't had the urge to cough yet...

It was not horrible to taste and it only took two sips to immediately clear my throat and chest.

Try it.......

my 2 cents worth.

Re: Swine Flu hits farrier in Vermont

Make sure you guys all get your vit D levels up! When you live up north there isn't enough sunshine to keep the levels where it should be. The Vit D Council is working to change the recommended levels to between 50 and 80. Most Dr's don't recognize this yet and most of us have Vit D levels that are only 1/3 of what they should be. And, of course if you're using sunscreen, then you're not absorbing any Vit D from the sun. I take 6000 units per day in the winter and 4000 in the summer and it keeps my levels up (and I weigh 118 pounds).

HOLY COW , those are astronimcal amounts of Vitamin D. My Dr. prescribed me Vitamin D 1000 mg per day and I weight almost 270. ( I was 285 when prescribed, just before Jaye Perry's clinic).
