Re: Severe quarter crack

I think you may find there is more going on with the lameness in the leg of the horse then just the quarter crack alone , the horse all so has thickening round the top of fetlock joint, which would suggest major suspensory ligament injury& damage at some stage in its life time & should be taken in to account with the crack when determining lameness in the limb.

Re: Severe quarter crack

Good looking work. Sometime I need to make a trip down to spend a few days with you. Winter, as it is cold and dark up here.

I had a tinker this past week with a crack similar to that, except it was on the right front(medial). Instead of being pushed up at the hairline as yours, it was pushed in about 5mm or so. The leg was very swollen up to the top of PI. I refused to work on it until they got a vet, got scanned or such so I knew what I was doing.

Re: Severe quarter crack

Gambino,
With that under wrung heel, any length of toe is going to put stress on that crack all over again.
I assume you will keep him in shoes with a rocker toe for a long time ?

my 2 cents worth
