Just made some.... Not so good with the cross peen on side 1/4 clips.
I just learned how to make the lat support hind last night. Pretty psyched about getting a start on it.



I miss marked my nail holes when I went to mark them.



Any tips on marking nail holes in regaurds to distances and whatnot?

Josh there are a ton of different ways to mark your nail holes...really it just takes a ton of shoes. Go slow, develop your eye, I think in the long run this is best, JMO. The number one thing that helped me was I just made the decision to build every slider I put on for a full year, nail holes got to be smack on...When you are just practicing building shoes its tougher, you have to really concentrate on building shoes for feet.

I guess it is just me, but when I handmake a shoe, the nailholes are dictated to me by the whiteline. Most handmades are for crummy feet, otherwise they get a keg. I believe the best reason to use and make a handmade is because of the shape and condition the feet are in, not just to build one to look at symmetrically.

Some of the reasons i would use HAND-MADES
i would have a better selection of different sections to choose
to suit the horses feet 3/4x3/8 , 7/8x3/8, 1x3/8 ect concave


measurments i can be exactly were i want to be
machine shoes dont give me that (bar shoes esp)

i can have better nail-holes fit and pitch and placment
for horses that need extra pitch and feet that dont hold up so good

i would prefer my own clips over the machine shoes (size, shape, position)
and when having the foot in mind

i can make a balanced shoe easier to fit a foot
thats not so balanced better

Smitty, you always make sence. My comments were towards building every shoe to look like the last one. Again conditions dictate what shoe is needed and where the nails need to go.

I had a full series of pics on this horse, but something happened and a bunch of my pictures got corrupted. But this was a good case for a handmade shoe IMO. The medial side was all torn up from how he was shod before. The heel nail in the new shoe was pitched backward and extra coarse so that I could get the shoe back under the foot.
