I was just wondering, what would be a good shoe for a jumper. My horse is in a steel shoe, but he bruises his feet and get abscesses.

Here is a few things for you to consider while trying to figure out what to do. It is impossible for anyone here to advise you on what to do since we cannot see the feet and we have no history on the horse or where you ride him, what he eats etc.., I would be very concerned with the bruising and abcessing. Have you talked to your Farrier about this? If you have, what did your Farrier recommend? For starters I would ask him/her why she is bruising. Your Farrier inturn should ask you questions like what does your horse eat and what is the footing like that you compete on? Some horses have poor quality hoofs, thin soles and weak walls, that can be very prone to bruising on stones and hard ground. If this is the case you might want to figure out why he has thin soles, maybe and I say a big maybe it could be remedied by good nutrition and/or suppliments like Farriers Formula, sometimes there feet are just weak geneticly and nutrition will not fix them. What kind of enviroment does your horse live in, is it too wet makeing the feet soft? Maybe your horse needs pads. These are things you can discuss with your Farrier. Be open minded and try to work with your Farrier to come up with a solution. It takes time to fix problems in horses feet so be patient and allow enough time to gain improvement.
