I still use it for the likes of stuff which requires cleaning out anaerobic bacteria rather than where there's a wound so for instance cleaning out feet.
It fizzes so it's really good for such as treatment of thrush. Holding the foot up, pour on a 25 to 30% hydrogen peroxide dilution. This oxidises and ensures that any infective organism which is anaerobic is "fizzed out".
If the feet had soft tissue invasive injury or such as puncture wounds, then I wouldn't use it like that though.
I never use for such as flushing out soft tissue wounds though. For that I'd use sterilised water and sea salt - in other words saline solution.
At lower dilution, it used to have a place for the likes of where there's been an infective deep injury wound such as an ulcerated abscess and it can be effective but normally used at no more than about 3% dilution and for such as occasional cleaning and when the wound is being kept open to drain bacteria and pus. But not for regular wound treatment because it slows down the healing process. Also nowadays there's much much much better stuff to use which in addition to getting rid of the bacteria, doesn't damage healthy cells and so promotes quicker healing and wound closure.

Apparently the hospitals around here stopped using it because it kills the cells.
I use it because it kills the infection
and the cells and puts like an instant scab on it.
All open wounds for me.
I have never had a problem with it.

My understanding is that hydrogen peroxide is an oxidative antiseptic that can be effective in stemming capillary bleeding, however when used in open wounds it can cause damage to tissue. I once had a vet tell me that hydrogen peroxide actually slows down the healing process because it actually destroys cells in the wound. Do I know it for a fact? Nah. Just repeating what I have been told. I can't remember but I think a 60% or 70%(can't remeber which) solution the vapors can be harmful. The only time I use it is on the bottom of a hoof. For cuts and abrasions I use Schreiner's Herbal Solution. I have had really good luck with it. I use it on me too. One Friday morning my hoof knife bit me. I had 4 more shoe jobs to do that day so I broke out the super glue and went back to work. Usually the super glue works great but I couldn't get the bleeding to stop completely. Saturday came around and it was still bleeding some so out came the Herbal Solution. The bleeding completely stopped with in five minutes. One draw back though. It burns like heck but what the hay, it works!:p

I have had vets and doctors tell me it is too harsh on tissues. I use either water with a little bit of betadyne solution (NOT iodine) in it, or sterile saline to flush wounds. I just keep a bottle of that mild sterile saline eye wash on hand for that purpose.
If it wont hurt an eyeball, it won't hurt a wound.

Working at a vet clinic, hydrogen peroxide was only used on old, infected wounds where the tissue is already damaged and it is more important to get the infection dealt with. It wasn't to be used on fresh wounds.
We have a hydrogen peroxide filtration system for our well and there are a lot of precautions to handling it. It can burn the skin very badly.
I know of people who have used food grade hydrogen peroxide for a "cleanse". They'd start with one drop the first day, go up to two the second and so on up to ten drops on the tenth day and then work their way back down. Most people I've spoken to who've attempted this say that by day five they were vomitting, dealing with very bad headaches and decided to quit taking it.
I did find when we first switched to the H2O2 for our water system and we needed to use a higher level in the water in the beginning, I was getting daily mild headaches. After a couple of weeks and playing with the levels, the headaches stopped.

i use it all the time for cuts. on my kids and dogs too. I use it when a dog swallows someting it shouldn't, like chocolate or a full bottle of motrin. after a few minutes they'll vomit up the bad stuff. i've had the vet use it for the same thing.
maybe I'll stop using it on cuts. I had no idea it's bad!
