Was going to order a jhm 100lb anvil from AB and pick it up in okc during the derby, but the price went from $415 to $453 in the last week or two.So my question is-I can buy a tfs 100lb for $390 .Just wondered what anyones opinion was in the quality differences of these 2 anvil's,and which one you'd buy

thanks for your reply's

I don't know how it is now but 12 or 14 years ago both the JHM and the TFS anvils were made at the same foundry in Gainesville TX. I bought a TFS 125 after the guy in the foundry told me that. I have used both JHM and the TFS in the hundred and the hundred twentyfive and could not tell the difference. The JHM anvils have the "super cool'' lettering on the side though. You might call Danny Taylor in Bryan/College Station I saw him a while back and he had several of the #100 JHM anvils for sale. He should be in the AFA directory. They were in good shape and were cheaper than $450.

For my money. Neither. Emerson make a very nice classic anvil in 100# and 150#. for a truck anvil the 100# is cherry. nice round horn. Jim poor made the prototype from a Kohlswa type desiegn. I have had both the tfs and jhm and hated them both. Weak waist and a very poorly shaped horn.(I use quite a few hand mades.) Hope that helps. They are in bossier city La. (318)742-5991

JHM anvils are made in Corsicana, Tx. and Anvil Brand just bought the line so I would bet that's why the price is higher? Gary

Check out the classifieds on this site. There are a couple anvils for sale there.

I use the JHM 125# and like it alright. I have been teling everyone that they were made in Italy. I would swear that John told me that was where he was having them cast. Maybe that was the first ones?
