Okay I have been looking for a farriar for two months now with no luck in Michigan. Everyone that I have contacted is not interested in coming out for one horse. Why is this? I have a 2 year old Moran filly who has very upright front hooves. I have been told that they are not clubbed although they kinda look like it if not trimmed properly. I had found a farrier and now since I had to move barns he is no longer interested in do her feet for me. I am really upset about all of this. She has to be trimmed every 6 weeks and she grows like no toe just lots of heel. So anyways I found this site and I am hoping that someone on here can put me into contact with a farrier in MI. I am currently in Byron Center, MI but will hopefully be moveing to Casnovia in about two months or so, at that time I plan on purchasing another horse. So the counties that are near to me include, Kent, Muskegon, Ottawa, Ionia, Barry, Newaygo and Montcalm. I am willing at this point to PAY whatever it takes to get someone who will regularly trim my horse.

Hi there.
You might want to check out www.americanfarriers.org, and even the farrier finder section on this website. Your best bet is to ask people in your area who take good care of their horses who they use.
But most importantly, to get the kind of care you want for your horse, be willing to haul the horse to the farrier, or to the barn they might work out of most of the time. It is worth it for you and your horse! It can be costly and time consuming to travel for one horse, and if the person who's work is the best in your area is probably too busy to do so. Haul her to him! The trailering is good experience for a young horse and the time and effort will be worth it!
Good luck!!

Yeah I know it would be great if I could haul in somwhere but I don't have a trailer at this time. I have asked around a lot, and I have talked to a lot of people and it just hasn't helped. I offered one guy $100 to come out and trim her and he actually is in my area a lot. No luck though. I am going to keep trying though. She is due for a trim and I have been calling people everyday, most of them never even call me back.
