Anyone know how to get a radius map from where you live? I am trying to get a map that would show me a radius of distance from my home.

I don't know about a radius map, but you can get an road map and draw a circle as to the area you want to cover? Measure how far you want to travel in all directions? Is that what you are needing?

Yes, kindof. I could do that but on some farriers websites that I have been on they show a map of where they live in the US and then it is circled as to how far they will travel. I was wondering if there is a website that I could do something like that.

Howdy,

Streets and Trips from Microsoft is a nice program that I use and like quite a bit. It is pretty user friendly and you can mark radius and plan and plot trips as well. It gives detailed directions that are easy to understand and not super detailed as Mapquest or similar programs.

Google Earth is a free download and although I don't think that it offers a radius feature, it is pretty cool to see 3D views and topographical features of where you are and where you are going. I use it often as well.

I hope this helps....

I'm not a farrier but I hope Baron can excuse this one post because I think I can help :) Since it's not specifically farrier related, I hope it's okay. :o

Here is mine:
http://www.hphoofcare.com/Services.html

And here is how I did it:

Go to:
www.mapquest.com

Type in YOUR HOME ADDRESS. It will load the map with a star directly over your house. Center this map on your page, and then do a PRINT SCREEN from your keyboard. The button is usually labeled "PrtScn"

Pull up Microsoft Word and paste the photo:
Click Edit on the toolbar menu
Click Paste

If you click directly on the photo, Word will load a photo editing toolbar. Select the CROP button and then crop the map down to get rid of all the garbage along the edges of your map photograph.

Now click View - Toolbars - Drawing

This will load a Drawing toolbar where you can select a line feature. Select the line feature and draw lines, (Or you cn select the circle feature and do a circle.)

If you click on the line itself, you can then right click and change the features of the line - the weight and the color.

When you're done, you save this as a .JPG or .BMP file, and then load that file onto your website as a photo.

I have mine set up as a thumbnail so you can click it and expand the full size version.

OR you can give me all the details and I'd be very happy to create the map for you and email it to you in the final version. :)
