Does anyone have a picture/description of this type of shoe? The only one I could find was nailed to a foot already and looked very much like a GE nav. shoe from the side view.

Thanks

I found this one via google at www.wellshod.com.
It is aluminum.
The GE version is an egg bar with the same design the heels.
The origonal Tennesee navicular shoe was steel with the ends of the branches of another shoe welded on.

Was the shoe named after the location that has the most Navicular. We don't have Maine Navicular shoe. :D

Hey Smitty do you guys have a Irish Navicular shoe with toe clips? Would you put a toe clip on a Navicular shoe?

These are both blatent rip-offs of the LaPierre method of attaching an orthotic to the hoof. You will each probably be sued for your temerity.:p

Tennessee navicular shoe; A.K.A platform shoe is made from 5/8" square stock. I had to make one for my shoe board final in school back in 92. I can get a pic if you like. Still got the board.:)

Ok, I have a rookie question. Doesn't a shoe like this leave the frog a long way from the ground?

I have used with success in helping horse's with various aliments with the alum N shoe, I use the KB/GE shoe. The shoe alone has a 6 degree elevation.
After they have been on the horse for a shoeing perio of 4 - 6 weeks I have found that they have been worn down anywhere from 5 degrees to 1 degree. This is depending on the horse, active, eviroment etc. Interesting though is that if they are reset, the degrees do not change. I feel that this indicates that the horse "being smarther that I' will wear the shoe down to where they are comfortable. This pattern has been on horse's with navicular (?), stifle, ringbone, old cranky knees etc. I always used the Vettec CS as a filler and at times have welded in a heart bar. In conclusion I would say that a alum N shoe would be better in helping the horse, in that it will wear to where the horse feels better not what we think.
