I've said before that i'm a part time farrier, so i only have & need a small truck for all my equipment. What do you farriers use for a truck or rig? Do most of you use regular trucks or do you have those huge box rigs?
Those are way too expensive for me!!! I'm kinda short so i like my truck, but i envy you farriers that have your big rigs & EVERYTHING you need to get the job done:-)

Here's mine.

Here's the inside. This is when I first got it but, since then I've added a few things and moved things around a bit. I secured my propane tank, added a 1000 watt power inverter with 2 golf cart batteries, fire extinguisher, a few more lights, and some hoof anatomy posters on the walls.

Howdy,

With the price of Diesel approaching the $5 mark, I am thankful that I have my Toyota. It may not be the most luxurious, but it has been good to me. I can pack everything I need, and while I can't pass much out on the road, I can still pass a gas station.

I'm like you Trevor, I have used small trucks from the get go! I remember when gas went from 25 cents a gallon to 75! My Colorado also fits into most of my barns, so I don't miss work due to rain or ice during the winter months. Nice to fit in the shade also and plug in the fans now that the heat has set in!

You have some awsome rigs:)

taking me back to memory lane= had a "78 GMC, two tone seafoam green, 4X4, lift kit ,tow package, all the bells and whistles, special order...a cap on the back similar to Patty's

...after the divorce=69 Ford, stick, linkage stuck, breaks squeaked , tires were bald and the paint was dull..

.I sure miss that GMC:D

as ever

Jay

sorry, never took photos:mad:

I have a white VW transporter too, fantastic vans and comfy too. Plus the lift up back door is great when it ****es down with rain!

Wouldn't want to work out of anything else.

I've shod out of box vans for the last 16 years after shoeing out of pick ups with a cap for the previous 12 years. I just switched to a Sprinter as a walk in unit. Here's some pics of it 85% complete.

Thanks! MPG is 19.5 to 22.5 depending on type of driving. Even with diesel about a dollar higher than gas, I'm saving money on fuel compared to my Ford Box van with a gas engine that got 9 to 10 mpg.

Mercedes-Benz 3.0 Liter Turbo V-6. If you do get serious, make sure you get one with a 3.92 rear axle, not a 4.18. The previous model with a 2.8 liter Turbo I-5 gets even better mileage.

Oh Hell, I thought that was a dodge sprinter van, I will have to do some research! Thanks for the info. With feul prices the way they are headed, I will be looking for something more feul- efficient in the future. I really like that set-up.

It is a Dodge Sprinter.... and a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter. They a Mercedes designed and built truck, sold as a Dodge or Freightliner in North America. After '09 they will no longer be sold as a Dodge, as Chrysler is no longer Daimler-Chrysler and no longer linked to Mercedes-Benz. Dodge will sell a van built by Nissan starting in '10. Freightliner will continue to sell the Sprinter as they are still owned by Daimler-Benz.

I'll quit hogging this thread after this.... I almost bought another E-350 Box Van(would have been my fourth). I'm very glad I didn't, even a 6.0 liter diesel wouldn't get this mileage. Another benefit in the rustbelt, is all the wireing is in the one piece van body, so no more chasing tailight wires corroded by road salt underneath the truck!

Go good in the mud and snow?

This place isn't that busy.... The suspension seems good, it has a 9660# GVW and it hardly squatted when It got loaded. It has big diameter front and rear sway bars. I carry less inventory than my old truck, but it still has everything in it. I haven't gotten a weight yet, but will soon. I've only had it a month, so haven't had it in the snow or out in the mud yet.
