Does anyone know anything about these forges. Supposed to be the best out there. Does anyone own one?

Loads of farriers use them here in the UK, they are used in all the gas forging competitons over here but I personally prefer Cliff Carrol forges, they are simple to maintain.

Swan forges are good though, I used one for all my apprenticeship. The only drawback is that they cost twice as much as my Cliff Carrol.

Thats a mayes forge. I dont know anyone who has bought one but the demo DVD I got sent showed it working well. Not sure what it would be like making shoes/fire welding in it.

It's no secret I dont like my pro forge at all. I'd look into one of those hypona forges for my next forge. Marc do you find your self scalding your had every time you try to remove a shoe from the pro forge? I do no matter how I try to move my hand out of the way.

I have very long tongs Josh, Ha only kidding! I turn down the gas pressure for everyday use. The forge is a twin burner so for everyday fitting and concave shoemaking it doesn't need to be that powerful but you have the option of cranking it up if need be.

However, every farrier has certain preferences for tools/forges the same as they do for shoes. I like my pro forge and it hasn't as yet let me down but there are some guys that don't like them. Its always a good idea to try out a mates forge first before you commit to buying one. We dont get the Hypona forges here but there are some great gas forges made in america.
